Job Description
Activities related to college teaching and learning including but not limited to:
- Deliver high-quality instruction and labs to students in the Precision Food Production program, including instruction on campus, online, or through hybrid modalities that may include weekends and evenings.
- Related to production agriculture in the Midwestern USA.
- To include weed identification, introduction to agronomy, pesticide applications, advanced crop production, agriculture water quality, precision agriculture courses, and integrated pest management.
- Relate courses to soil health, cover cropping, and producer programs provided by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA), and others.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with industry experts, Central Lakes College community, and the public.
- Help further develop the program; advise students; foster equity and a sense of belonging among all students; and participate in recruitment, assessment, and retention efforts.
- Develop applied learning course outcomes that utilize the Ag & Energy Center to examine real-world crop management within the context of weather, markets, and other crop variables.
- Perform research and demonstration that grows the assets of the Ag & Energy Center as well as classroom instruction.
- Work closely with college administration and staff at the Central Lakes College Ag & Energy Center.
Required Qualifications
- Two year degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture Business, Accounting, or closely related field;
- Demonstrated in depth knowledge of soil and crop principles used in the Midwestern US for typical crops (soybeans, potatoes, corn, wheat, edible beans, sunflowers);
- Effective communication skills;
- Ability to draw upon cultural and community-based knowledge in teaching and research;
- Experience providing hands-on, experiential learning to students.

- Demonstrate familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college.
- Dedication to teaching and student learning providing quality education emphasizing college level standards.
- Commitment to studying, analyzing, and implementing learning strategies that will help students reach their education goals.
- Experience using teaching techniques that support diverse learning styles and use a variety of delivery modalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
- Commitment to share in the college’s Culture of Caring and interest in supporting diverse cultures and populations.
- Experience working in an agriculture related industry.
