South Shore Community Action Council - a private non-profit working to end poverty on the South Shore - seeks a full-time Facilities & Maintenance Technician.

POSITION: Full Time

Core Responsibilities:

Performs routine building maintenance, minor building, and plumbing repairs, and light custodial work at 8 facilities on the South Shore and Cape Cod.

Perform, assist, and coordinate all work orders requesting facilities services. Help determine the priority of work orders. Manage work-order tickets until issues are resolved through completion.

Provide hands-on minor repair services as needed, including painting, patching holes, bolting furniture, shelving, keeping playgrounds free of debris and safety concerns, changing light bulbs and fixtures, and light plumbing.

Assist in determining the appropriate vendor for all minor repairs requiring outside assistance such as plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and alarm technicians.

Assist the Director of Operations in the procurement of contractors for managing renovations, major repairs, and capital expenditures

Responsible for the supervision/escorting of contractors performing work within assigned buildings.

Schedule routine facility-related maintenance.

Assist in determining the appropriate vendor via the procurement process and management of ongoing cleaning, snow plowing, landscaping, and trash removal services.

Evaluate the condition of buildings, equipment, and grounds, and recommend improvements in the facilities to ensure that needs of programs housed in buildings are met.

Assist in developing/implementing preventative maintenance plans system-wide and for the specific needs of each location.

Provide regular monthly reports to the Director of Transportation and Operations.

Core Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and five years of experience in building custodial/maintenance work or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Construction or facilities management background preferred. A medical certificate, TB test and proof of immunity, MMR prior to beginning employment, valid driver's license in good standing. Statement of no record – CORI, DCF, SORI, FINGERPRINT- post-interview, pre-conditional hire. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply. Must be able to meet mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy post-interview pre-hire.
