  • SPECIAL CONDITION: MS State Law requires that male applicants between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-six (26) submit satisfactory documentation of their compliance with the draft registration requirements of the Military Selective Service Act with application. In addition, males between the ages of eighteen (18) and twenty-six (26) who are currently employed shall not be promoted to higher positions until they submit documentation of compliance with the requirements of the Federal Selective Service

Act. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: LEVEL I-$23,421.32 1. High school education or GED equivalent. Graduation from a trade school or technical school or a combination of equivalent education or experience to equal one (1) year is required.LEVEL II-$25,662.65

2. High school education or GED equivalent. Graduation from a trade school or technical school or a combination of equivalent education or experience to equal two (2) years is required. Must have two (2) years’ experience or equivalent as a journeyman carpenter.

LEVEL III-$28,128.12
3. High school education or GED equivalent. Graduation from a trade school or technical school or a combination of equivalent education or experience to equal three (3) years is required. Must have three (3) years’ experience or equivalent as a journeyman carpenter.

4. Possess a valid state driver’s license and if authorized to operate a government vehicle, have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government motor vehicle operator’s ID card. PROOF OF A DRIVER’S LICENSE MUST
BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION.

5. Basic knowledge of operation and maintenance of power tools related to woodworking skills.
6. Physical condition of such nature permits lifting, stooping, climbing with the ability to move and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions pertinent to job related duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Not all inclusive, will be fully explained during interview)
1. Applies caulking compound or other filler material around door and window casings.
2. Fabricates concrete forms, scaffolds, storage pallets, storage bins, tables, workbenches, and related items.
3. Measures and cuts materials to the required lengths and dimensions.
4. Installs rafters, studs, sills, plates, braces, joists, floors, sub-floors, panels (including sheetrock, plywood, and veneers), siding sheathing, roofing, building materials, insulation materials, door and window frames, and interior and exterior trim.
5. Finishes sheetrock to include taping and mudding.
6. Fabricates and installs frames or casings for windows, doors, and ventilators; shelves, counters, plywood, duct work, bulletin boards, cabinets, bookcases, and related features having built-in characteristics.
7. Install vinyl floor tile.
8. Subject to call outs after normal duty hours to include weekends and holidays.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
