Description:
The Event Coordinator is responsible for development and implementation of events at assigned properties. Functions include social events, day meetings, conferences, retreats, weddings, etc. The Event Planner will work with the Sales Manager to maximize sales revenue for each event, within the client’s budget. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for all activities to prepare for, execute, and properly follow-up on each event.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Consults with clients to assess and understand needs for various events.
- Manage booking, logistics, coordination and follow-up of all event functions.
- Accurately present packages and pricing options to prospective clients.
- Maintain highest standards of customer service and client satisfaction.
- Coordinate group room blocks when necessary for planned functions.
- Ensure all proper billing has been established for each event.
- Plans and assigns tasks and assignments for event support staff leading up to and during events.
- Coordinate site visits, taste testings and hotel tours to prospective customers.
- Attend community functions and trade shows to promote the business and generate leads.
- Regularly review local market trends and competition.
- Regular communication and coordination including creative problem solving, vendor issues, client needs, etc. as issues arise.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders (clients, vendors, staff).
Education and Experience:
- High school education required, two- or four-year college degree in Hospitality, Event Planning or related field preferred.
- At least two years progressive experience in customer service, retail, event planning or related field.
- Proven ability to effectively manage conflict and ensure successful outcomes; deal with high stress situations while exercising sound judgment and decision making.
- Ability to effectively influence through knowledge, relationship management and trust.
- General computer knowledge including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), and other office equipment.
- People leadership and direct supervisor experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Long hours frequently required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift and frequent physical activity as associated with running an event.
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
- Must be able to climb stairs occasionally.
- While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
