General Position Description:
The Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator will work with internal team and external partners as a preparedness and response professional by leading planning, training, practical exercises, and technical support functions for coordination and implementation of strategies related to public health emergency preparedness and response.
Essential Functions:
● The EPR Coordinator will initiate and implement program activities, alone or with program staff consistent with public health priorities.
● Act as a liaison to a variety of Emergency Preparedness and Response agencies in the region; develop collaborative partnerships as part of Emergency Preparedness and Response activities; coordinate and attend state, local and regional Emergency Preparedness and Response coalitions/committees as assigned.
● Regional responsibility to serve the West Central Public Health Partnership (Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale/Mineral, Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel) counties in Western Colorado. The coordinator will establish and build effective working relationships with a range of community and regional partners, community members, and co-workers to form a team environment in addition to developing professional relationships with response agencies and groups within, and outside of Emergency Support Function (ESF) #8-Health and Medical roles.
● Evaluate, maintain and update the Local Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
● Develop strong working relationships with internal and external partners with varying levels of experience to enhance public health outcomes.
● Must be available outside of regular business hours when necessary to complete emergency responsibilities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
Required Education:
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university degree in public health, environmental health, emergency management, or other as deemed appropriate
Experience:
● At least 2 years of professional experience working at a state or local public health agency in areas related to emergency preparedness, public health or related field strongly preferred
● The following proven skills are preferred:
o Effective written and oral communication skills
o Computer literacy
o Effective facilitation and presentation skills
o Effective conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills
o Ability to coordinate with multiple partner agencies and jurisdictions to meet project goals and to develop effective, collaborative relationships within the defined region/jurisdiction.
Combination of education and experience could waive specific requirements.
Licenses/Certifications:
Current and valid Colorado Driver’s License
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,500.00 - $64,350.00 per year
