RRC is seeking a talented Electrical Project Engineer (PE) to help us build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from our Tualatin OR, or Denver, CO offices in the US, or Calgary, AB, or Toronto, ON offices in Canada. Essential Technical Responsibilities

· Perform one or two design duties listed as follow:

1) Complete and authenticate detailed renewable energy collector system design packages encompassing medium voltage systems with switchgear, transformer, AC/DC inverters power cables, AC/DC distribution systems, PV plants, battery energy storage systems, and wind turbines for both wind and solar projects

2) Perform electrical engineering studies at both the FEED stage and detailed design stage, including ampacity, grounding, reactive power, power flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, system impact studies, arc flash, AC/DC, etc. by using ETAP, ASPEN, CYMCAP, SKM, PSSE, PSLF, WinIGS, EMTP-RV, PSCAD; prepare accurate, clearly written, well-organized technical reports

3) Prepare and review equipment/apparatus specifications, datasheets, and other procurement documents; participate in vendor technical bid evaluation; review and approve manufacturer equipment drawings/ITPs; attend manufacturer FATs and review testing reports

4) Oversee coordination of civil/structure design activities for site grading, drainage, footings, fencing, duct banks, foundations, and structures

· Provide construction support and interpret client’s needs and requirements while representing them in the field

· Act as the engineer of record for responsible projects; perform QA/QC of all design packages

· Interface with internal and external team members including electrical engineers, electrical designers, drafters, discipline leads, project managers, and take ownership of the project to meet and exceed client expectations.

· Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications

· Support development of standards, optimizations, and processes and provide execution plans with strong follow-through

· Provide oversight, guidance, and training to junior engineers and designers

Qualifications

· Minimum of bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable engineering, or relevant field

· 2+ years’ HV/MV engineering design experience in renewable energy, or power delivery (transmission and distribution systems for utilities or industrial), or power generation

· Professional Engineering registration license or ability to obtain license

· Must be authorized for full-time work in Canada

· Experience as an intermediate electrical project or design engineer

· Strong understanding of applicable industry codes and standards including the ANSI/IEEE, NESC, NEC, CSA, IEC, etc.

· Ability to work on multi-discipline projects

· Excellent time management and organization skills

· Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook with advanced MS Office skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and make recommendations

· Ability to collaborate within a team environment

· Self-motivated and work with minimal guidance

· Ability to travel up to 10%

· Knowledge of renewable energy industry relating to utility scale wind and solar projects, such as MV power systems and AC/DC distribution system a plus

· Master's Degree in Engineering with renewable energy focus a plus

· Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems a plus

· Experience with system studies in software such as CYME, ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, PSSE, PSLF, CDEGS, WinIGS, or other related software a plus; experience with electromagnetic transient study, insulation coordination study, and TOV study using PSCAD or EMTP-RV a plus

· Manufacturer experience of power transformer, circuit breaker, AIS/GIS switchgear, AC/DC inverter, etc. a plus

· IEC 61850 experience and aspirations a plus

· Construction experience a plus

Pay: $85,713.29 - $100,704.50 per year
