The Electrical Engineer is a 12-month contract position working for a specialty chemical client in the Ville Platte, LA. area.

The Electrical Engineer will support the execution of an Air Pollution Control Project and 15 MW electrical co-generation facility.

Electrical Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of EPC Contractor.
  • Coordination with interconnecting utility company (CLECO), including review of technical documents and response to requests for information.
  • Oversight of high voltage electrical consulting engineer (WSP).
  • Work with the project team and Detailed Engineering team to ensure coordination of technical and schedule information .
  • Technical review of Electrical drawings generated by EPC Contractor.
  • Review equipment vendor documentation and drawings.
  • Verify compliance with Codes and that Louisiana stamping requirements are met.
  • Guide and direct EPC Contractor to identify where they over/under design.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews and provide inputs.
  • Prepare documentation and participate in all process safety management aspects, including MOC, PHA, and PSSR.
  • Assist with detailed design and construction.
  • Participate in construction safety inspections.
  • Participate in generation of construction punch lists.
  • Support the facility Commissioning Manager and Operations team with technical assistance as required.

Electrical Engineer Experience and Education Requirements:
• BS in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred (Louisiana PE not specifically required).
  • 10 Years engineering experience including collaborations and oversight of engineering teams.
  • Experience in engineering and design of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Experience in engineering and design of instrument systems and equipment is desired.
  • Experience in smart MCCs with MODBUS TCP configuration.
  • Experience with hard asset manufacturing environment, chemical, oil & gas, cement, paper, etc.
  • Experience with construction and equipment installation in chemical/oil & gas/cement/paper manufacturing plants is desired.
  • Experience with manufacturing electrical equipment inspection and installation.
  • Experience with installation and commissioning of electrical systems including 38kV, 4.16kV, and 480V switchgear and low voltage smart MCCs with MODBUS TCPIP communication protocol.
  • Experience with instrument loop checkout and commissioning is desired.
  • Candidates must be able to commute to the Ville Platte, LA area on a daily basis, or be willing to relocate for the term of the contract.
