Duties
The English Language Development teacher is responsible for planning curriculum and instruction for students who require English language skills. The teacher works with other specialists, education assistants and teachers to identify the needs of students. Exceptional reading instruction and language acquisition skills is necessary.
A teacher in this position must:
- Be familiar with Common Core Standards
- Create a flexible program and class/small group environment favorable to learning and personal growth
- Be familiar with the tenets of PBIS
- Establish effective rapport and positive relationships with students
- Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education
- Establish positive relationships with parents and colleagues
- Have strong classroom management founded in restorative justice and growth mindset
- Knowledgeable about assessing student progress and applying assessment data to instruction
- Be organized and flexible

Qualifications
Qualified applicants must have a current and appropriate Oregon Teaching License and be Highly Qualified. All candidates must have training and/or experience with integrated curriculums, technology skills, collaboration and teaming skills, and be able to employ a variety of instructional strategies. ELD endorsement, or the ability to earn the appropriate certification, is required. Consideration will be given to teachers who are fluent in Spanish and/or teachers who are bi-cultural or multi-cultural. Strong consideration will also be given to teachers with Integrated ELD and/or collaborative teaching experience.
Successful applicants must comply with the OHA rule on the COVID-19 vaccine mandate by either being fully vaccinated or have an accepted religious or medical exception by the South Lane School District. The candidate must sign a safety expectation form if granted a medical or religious exception. Salary
Salary will be determined by previous relevant K12 experience and degree level in accordance with the current salary schedule.
