Editorial Assistant, SMP Job at Macmillan Publishing Group, LLC
Looking for an editorial assistant with a high level of attention to detail for St. Martin’s Essentials, our lifestyle, body/mind/spirit imprint. Candidate must be task-oriented, and able to oversee numerous detail-oriented demands – from production to editorial to author/agent relations – to successfully help the editor, authors, and shepherd projects through the publishing process.
What you'll do:
- Manage the production process and details for both standard and highly designed nonfiction books
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with authors and agents throughout the publishing process
- Oversee the production and development of Essential’s public domain title program and maintain series standards for the imprint
- Write compelling catalog copy, draft TIP and Launch sheets, assign keywords, and draft jacket copy
- Read and consider submissions for publication
- Implement various tasks and requests from other departments and accounts

- Strong writing skills with the ability to capture and convey the essence of a book
- Creativity, enthusiasm, and an interest in prescriptive nonfiction titles
- Basic computer skills, including Word, Google, Drive, and others.
Ideal Experience:
- Prior publishing internship experience preferred but not required
- Computer and technical skills
This position will have a $42k salary.
