DSHS Nursing Assistant - Certified

The Department of Social and Health Services is now seeking a day shift Nursing Assistant. If you are a CNA who thrives in a challenging environment, we have a unique opportunity for you to join our nursing team in the Medical Clinic at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island.

SCC employees also receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to advertised salary and a free Orca card for transportation use. Ferry transportation is provided to McNeil Island employees.

Available shifts:

NOC shift Sun-Wed , 10 hour shift 10pm - 8am
NOC shift Sat-Thur , 10 hour shift 10pm - 8am

DAY shift 6am - 4pm available as well

Some of what you'll do

  • Assist residents with personal care and daily living activities such as bathing, personal grooming, hygiene, dressing, eating, and ambulation
  • Perform nursing procedures such as taking a pulse, temperatures, blood pressure, and non-invasive lab procedures
  • Document changes in resident activity and symptoms
  • Apply external appliances such as braces, urosheaths, and hearing aides
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in applying restraints
  • Maintain cleanliness, stock supplies, and perform clerical duties



We are looking for Nursing Assistants with:

  • High School diploma
  • A Washington State license to practice as a "Nursing Assistant - Certified"
  • Six months of experience involving customer service in a health care setting, or six months of experience involving direct patient care, or equivalent education/experience

Desired:

  • Knowledge of basic nursing and restorative care, personal hygiene and sanitation methods, infection control procedures, and patient/resident rights
  • Ability to provide a positive living environment for residents meeting psychosocial needs
  • Ability to ride to the work location on a ferry and shuttle
