POSITION: Driver/Custodian (DN9R9103 - Janitor)

DEPARTMENT: (100 Corps Community Center) – Auburn Corps

SUPERVISOR: Faith Hartt

STATUS: Non-Exempt / Full-time

A. BASIC PURPOSE

The Custodian/Driver will have janitorial, minor maintenance, and food pickup duties as well as operation and special events responsibilities. The Custodian/Driver will ensure that the property and facility is a clean and safe environment for Volunteers and Staff.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operation (Driver portion)

1. Pick-up, deliver and store food and supplies as needed (daily duty)

2. Bring donated food into pantry as needed, and maintain walk in fridge and freezer with food, as needed

3. Organize and maintain all assigned storage areas;

4. Maintain the vehicle (Cargo Van), fill up gas tanks, report repairs, as needed

5. Assist all departments in transportation as needed

6. Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management personnel

Janitorial

1. Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for volunteers and staff

2. Spot clean carpets when necessary

3. Strip, buff, and wax and/or shampoo and vacuum the first, second, and third floors, childcare

4. and kitchen/dining room area as needed

5. Store and maintain cleaning equipment

6. Maintain front and back of property

7. Report any inappropriate behavior on the grounds to the Corps Officers

8. Perform housekeeping duties as needed

9. Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management personnel

Special Events:

1. Assist on special events, community events, classes and meetings in setting up and breaking down

2. Assist in Food Services preparation as needed

3. Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management personnel

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

1. High School education or equivalent;

2. Must be able to speak, read, and write in English;

3. Minimum one-year experience in housekeeping and/or grounds maintenance;

4. Able to work with minimum supervision;

5. Flexibility of hours.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

1. Knowledge of proper usage of cleaning chemicals as complying with Cal/OSHA regulations;

2. Knowledge in housekeeping.

D. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle

2. Must be 21 years or older.

3. Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program

4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Working Conditions

1. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.

2. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as brooms and floor cleaning equipment, and reach overhead.

3. Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment, blower, lawn mower, and paint sprayer.

4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
