Pentucket Regional School DistrictElementary School Assistant Principal (.5)/SPED Team Coordinator (.5)Job DescriptionOrganizational ScopeThe Assistant Principal reports directly to the Principal. The Assistant Principal evaluates and supervises both professional and support staff. The Assistant Principal plans, organizes, and implements curricular and administrative functions for the school to provide support for the educational services with the resources available. These functions may include; District curriculum/program leadership and school-wide programming relative to assessment, curriculum development, special education, instructional practices, staff development, parent communication, scheduling, main office management, school discipline and safety, student transportation and facilities oversight.Position ResponsibilitiesIn the Assistant Principal role, the employee will work to support the principal, school and the district in actions that: Motivate and engage students, parents, and teachers to maximize opportunities for all students to reach their full potential.Assist in preparing and delivering professional development, staff and curriculum meetings.Identify student educational needs through the systematic quantitative and qualitative analysis of data to develop and implement a Tiered System of Supports with services as appropriate and resources available.Analyze related data, and work with classroom teachers on the implementation of instructional strategies and practices consistent with that data to result in improved student performance.Evaluate, coach and supervise professional and support staff as assigned by the Principal, consistent with the terms of the collective bargaining agreements and/or District policy.Provide oversight and support for the implementation of IEPs, 504s, and EL students by attending meetings as needed and supporting students, staff, and families of students with specific needs.Assist the Principal in organizing and facilitating test administration of local, state, and national assessments as directed.Coordinate the enforcement of student discipline policies and monitor all safety and security concerns, including student infractions on the bus.Coordinate the administration of school attendance policies and staff time sheets.Manage and prepare the school schedule, staff duty assignments, and the preparation of monthly and annual school activities calendars.Support and promote two-way communication with families building a trusting and collaborative relationship Coordinate the general upkeep and condition of the facility.Be a member and facilitator of various district-wide committees, teams, and working groups as needed.Act as a representative of the Special Education Director to building administrators, parents, professional staff members, Paraprofessionals, students, and their educational advocates.Chair all team meetings as LEA for the school district.

Secures, compiles, and maintains confidential assessments and information pertaining to Team meetings. Maintain all special education timelines in accordance with IDEA.Assume the responsibility for the administration of the Team process: i.e. contacting parents, coordinating all evaluations collecting and collating all educational data, processing and completing all required forms, scheduling meetings and chairing individual Team Meetings, as well as processing IEPs within the legal timelines. Commit the resources of the district at Team Meetings.Assist in the planning for the inclusion of students, when feasible into the least restrictive environment for academic instruction.

Supervise the screening process for kindergarten and preschool to fulfill the child find requirements of IDEA. Arrange Team Meetings to review/re-evaluate assessments or to reconvene as often as necessary to discuss student progress and develop a new or amended Program.Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Principal, Director of Student Services, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent of Schools. Job Qualifications & Physical DemandsMust be Certified or certifiable as Principal/Assistant Principal, in Grades PreK-6, by Massachusetts DESE, hold a Masters degree in Educational Administration, or be able to demonstrate commensurate knowledge, have elementary school teaching experience, school administration/instructional leadership experience preferred. Licensure and experience in Special Education role or service provider role are preferred.

Must have demonstrated organizational skills, educational leadership and creative problem-solving skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and, the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, including the ability to prioritize, manage and organize own workload.The successful candidate will have demonstrated through the interview process that they have the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents and the extended school community. Work-yearThis a full year position starting July 1.
