District Learning Coach Hiring Pool Job at Independent School District of Boise City
The Boise School District uses a content-area, pool-based system for hiring certified applicants who do not currently work in a certified capacity for Boise Schools. Applicants do not need to apply specifically for positions to receive consideration. Once an applicant has completed all application requirements and received their content-area screening, as outlined in our How to Apply for Certified Positions, they will receive automatic consideration for vacancies that meet the job content-area criteria and for which they are qualified - even if the job posting status indicates "In-District Only".
This is a generic posting to create a pool of applicants in the event there are vacancies in this content area for the 2023-2024 School Year.
This position includes an additional 15 days.

For positions that qualify, the District offers a benefit package that is valued at more than $10,000 annually. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERSI) and are provided to Classified employees who work at least half time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position and to Certified employees with a .50 FTE or greater contract.

Acceptable Experience & Training
- Must hold a valid Idaho State Teacher’s Certificate
- Preferred, not required, minimum of 10 years successful and effective teaching experience
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, collaboration, conflict resolution, planning, teamwork and organization techniques;
- Ability to design collaborative, job-embedded, standards-based professional learning through coaching, modeling and mentoring.
- Other requirements as determined by the Superintendent and/or Board

Boise School District Learning Coaches use a research-based coaching framework and quality instructional practices to provide support to teachers across grade levels and content areas. Coaching is driven by student outcomes and leads to the implementation of effective instructional practices in the classroom. As a District Learning Coach, this position will work in collaboration with District and School leadership, teachers, and the other learning coaches to build a community that supports student learning.
The District Learning Coach position is intended to facilitate and promote the continuous professional development of Learning Coaches in our schools. As each Learning Coach develops core practices to build teacher capacity for a learner-focused classroom, the District coach supports their opportunities to succeed in their practice. As a District Coach, a core value is the willingness to model and work to promote student learning, close the student achievement gap, and accelerate learning for all students by building teacher and coach capacity through implementation of effective coaching, teaching and learning strategies.
This position requires the District Learning Coach to have experience with, or a willingness to learn how to implement the core practices of a research-based coaching model, design and facilitate professional development, and engage in coaching consultancy opportunities alongside our Coaches. Using research-based coaching strategies, District Learning Coaches will work with staff throughout Boise School District to provide support for the implementation of research-based instructional strategies promoting student learning. Professional development design must be responsive to the needs of adult learners, models effective instructional and differentiation techniques, and adaptable to the arc of our Learning Coaches and District Leadership needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support the continuous growth and development of Boise School District Learning Coaches- Design, implement and support a reflective arc of Professional Development for Learning Coaches
- Support and mentor new Learning Coaches with information, skills, and opportunities to develop their success in the position
- Facilitate a research-based coaching model (“learning cycles”) across grade levels and content areas. District coaches are expected to engage in coaching cycles at the building/teacher level.
- Implement “learning cycles” designed to foster collaboration among teachers and provide differentiated support for individual teachers.
- Develop coach and teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of evidence to improve student learning.
- Build trusting, credible, respectful, and professional relationships with BSD staff at all levels.
- Collaborate with other Learning Coaches to facilitate professional learning engaging in reflective dialogue.
- Collaborate with coaches and teachers to create a culture of rigor, inquiry, and reflection by probing ideas and further pressing students to explore their intellect.
- Model being a reflective practitioner and provide support for others as they reflect on their impact on student learning.
- Have experience with, or a willingness to learn, how to implement the core practices for a research-based coaching model.
- Partner with District Leadership to build a culture for coaching.
- Consistently analyze coaching impact through ongoing coach conversations, observations, and evidence
- Engage in weekly meetings with the District Learning Coach team to discuss the implementation of the research-based coaching model.
