This position manages the design, delivery, and evaluation of all seasonal and year-round outdoor program experiences including the operations of overnight and day camps. Serves as the primary programmatic leader for components of our outdoor leadership portfolio with the goal of developing outdoor leadership skills that meet the needs and interests of the target populations, meet designated outcomes, and occur in a safe and quality manner.
We are looking for someone who possesses the drive to win, lead and develop a successful team and the ability to build lasting relationships in communities. The right candidate won’t just be building programs but building an experience for girls.
What Winning in this Role Looks Like
- Managing the delivery of all outdoor programs. using national program curricula as the basis to research, design, and create program content that is current, relevant, safe, and meet outcomes and quality requirements of the overall program plan.
- Developing a framework and protocol to ensure girls have the opportunity for progressive outdoor experiences that will keep them engaged through each age level.
- Creating opportunities for volunteer involvement ensuring recruitment and flexible deployment of volunteers in support of outdoor program needs.
- Creating, coordinating, and assigning appropriate outdoor education trainings for volunteers.
- Providing supervision and support to outdoor program volunteers, groups, and committees.
- Serving as Onsite Camp Director for council-operated overnight and day camps.
- Creates an annual outdoor program plan of work, budget, camp guide, and marketing plan to increase attendance at outdoor programs.
- Planning, coordinating, overseeing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of camp services to include, but not limited to, recruiting of campers and staff, program development, sales and marketing, staff training (pre-camp and in-camp), coordination with food service personnel, and maintenance.
The Skills You Need to Win
- Awesome Leader and Coach
- Passionate about girl leadership
- Outdoor education programming, recreation or camp administration experience
- First Aid, Life Guard, Boating. Food Management, Archery, Ropes and Challenge Adventure Certifications are required.
- A tenacious and resilient demeanor
- Creativity, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities to work in new and changing environments
- Self-motivated and efficient with strong time-management skills
- Great written and oral communication skills, including public presentations (virtually and in person)
- Ability to relate well to both adults and children
- Skilled with Microsoft Office, major social media platforms, and various video conferencing software; familiarity with Salesforce, a plus
- Have access to automobile for daily travel
- Girl Scout experience is very helpful (but not critical)
- Comfortable and able to converse in Spanish would be useful (but not a must)
