JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Technology provides the vision and direction needed to develop, implement, and improve information technology initiatives and functions in support of school-wide educational, administrative, and business operations. In addition, the Director of Technology is responsible for budgets, data and communications infrastructures, cybersecurity, academic and administrative information systems, and web-based services. The Director of Technology serves as Technology Teacher (including Google Applied Digital Skills, Code.org - Computer Science Discoveries, Tinkercad 3D printing, and VEX Robotics curriculum.)The work requires exceptional leadership, organizational abilities, communication, and interpersonal skills. The responsibilities of this position are the following: SUPERVISORY: - Oversee all of the functions of Information Technology, such as: network administration, systems administration, database administration, software development, technology support, audiovisual support, live streaming and video conferencing, website administration, and technology integration.

- Establish departmental standards, policies, and procedures regarding the acquisition, implementation, service, and operation of data and communications systems to ensure their security, reliability, and privacy. -Approve, coordinate, and oversee all school-wide projects related to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major technology systems to ensure appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems. PLANNING: - Work with the schools academic and administrative leadership to develop and maintain a forward-looking technology plan in support of the schools mission. - Work with the Facilities Director regarding capital improvements in technology, such as network design, building automation, and emergency response.
- Serve as a member of the schools Professional Development Committee. BUDGETING: - Work with the Business Manager to prepare and follow the Annual Operating Budget for school-wide technology operations, including funds for hardware and software, supplies and equipment, maintenance and repair, leases and purchases, consulting services, and contracted service agreements.- Research funding sources for technology and prepare grant requests. - Solicit quotes and prepare timely purchase orders for technology-related products and services, and maintain electronic recordkeeping. - Oversee the inventorying of all technology-based hardware, software - Negotiate service agreements with contracted technology vendor MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR: - Oversee the distribution and repair of end-user technology equipment, such as computers, monitors, laptops, tablets, printers, copiers, projectors, audio systems and related equipment, to ensure that these items are properly installed and functioning at optimum levels, and that students, faculty, staff, and administrators can use these technologies efficiently and effectively.
- Work with faculty members, who have a proven record of integrating educational technology into the curriculum, to write self-help documents and conduct training for teachers interested in adding multimedia resources to their own classroom instruction. - Work with staff members, who have a demonstrated knowledge of specific hardware, software or processes, to write self-help documents and conduct training for staff. - Work with the schools academic leadership to instruct new families on BYOD device recommendations, portal navigation, and data privacy. - Work with the Director of Enrollment to instruct new students about the schools policy on digital citizenship.
- The Technology Director operates on a 12-month calendar versus the regular school year calendar. Attendance is expected Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm and whenever needed.
