Primary mission:
Plan, manage and control the Group Sales and Catering Sales, if applicable operations, to achieve customer satisfaction and meet/exceed sales, revenue and profit objectives. Position is responsible for short- and long-term planning and day-to-day operations of the group and catering if applicable sales division. Assists General Manager in preparation of the marketing, advertising, sales plans, programs and annual budget; manages within approved plans and budgets. Responsible for the daily operations, training, and directing of the sales staff.
SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM

- Report to general manager concerning overall performance of property and accomplishments within the operation.
- Participate in community affairs and maintain positive public image for OLS Hotels & Resorts. Meet with potential and current clients and promote hotel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through various efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, referrals, property tours, networking, etc.); maximize room revenue and catering revenue to meet/exceed goals.
- Manage Group and Catering Sales to attract, retain and motivate employees; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communication vehicles, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.
- Recommend, assist in developing, implementing, monitoring, and controlling the group and catering sales annual budget and marketing plan, analyze competition, market trends and customer needs and comments; prepare and review forecasts, period and month-end reports and various sales and rate reports to continually assess the group and catering's productivity against the budget, plan and market place.
- Implement company programs (Springboard/Franchiser) and direct the operations in a manner consistent with Springboard's policies and procedures to meet/exceed budgeted room night, average rate and revenue goals while ensuring quality customer service.
- Develop and continually enhance relationships with key corporate, business and travel industry accounts, community organizations and professional associations to maintain high visibility and increase our market share.
- Possesses up–to-date knowledge in the marketing and sales profession, as well as the industry; is regarded as an expert and/or proficient in the technical/functional area and understanding systems.
- Experience developing effective product responses, delivery systems and methods for measuring and evaluating direct sales and marketing results.
- Thorough knowledge of online distribution channels within both leisure and group segments.
- Strong understanding of customer relationship principles and experience implementing operational CRM across company disciplines.
- Act as liaison with other departments in the hotel via weekly meetings to provide information in a timely manner and ensure group and catering needs are carried out as contracted.
- Train all members of the hotel staff on how to recognize and capitalize on all sales opportunities to increase hotel occupancy and revenue.
- Manage employee relations in order to attract, retain and motivate direct reports; hire, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications, discipline and terminate, as appropriate.
- Participate in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and the achievement of sales and revenue goals
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Participate in hotel committees, MOD program and task force assignments.
- Abide by all wage and hour, procedures, Meals and Rest Periods policy and Springboard Rules of Conduct.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
- Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to the General Manager.
- Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the employee handbook.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior Experience:
- Six + years as senior leader position in a hotel environment of comparable scale to Springboard Hospitality or six years of employment in a related position with this company or other companies.
- IT Expertise:
- Minimum of three-year experience as senior sales manager and/or rooms division sales and catering manager. Experience in all phases of sales and marketing in a first-class hotel organization.
- Education:
- College Degree or equivalent education, i.e., hotel Business College.
- Subject Expertise:
- Previous sales and marketing leadership responsibility overseeing all related functions for an upscale or boutique/luxury property of comparable scale to Springboard Hospitality (four diamond level or higher).
- Knowledge of travel trade industry, group markets and leisure segment including key contacts that would serve to source business for the property and that align with the profile and prestige positioning of Springboard Hospitality.
- Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession. This includes experiential knowledge required for management of people, complex problems and efficient sales activities.
- Makes decision within the standards of the position which can impact more than one department, but usually not more than one hotel. One general policies and procedures are available for guidance and superior is kept informed only of general directions of assignment.
- Requires analyzing activities or information involving some original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions.
- Strong computer knowledge and skills related to MS Office Programs.
- Must possess highly developed communication skills to frequently negotiate, convince, sell and influence other managerial personnel, hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients.
OTHER EXPECTATIONS:
- Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Springboard Hospitality Team Member Handbook.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
- Travel required: As needed for hotel familiarization, content creation shoots and to meet with colleagues.
- Hours Required: Must primarily work during Springboard Hospitality business hours, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (PST), while understanding that the hotel business functions 24/7 and some weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required.
