Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities :

  • Plan, develop, implement, and manage best practices across all sourcing functions to drive improvement in overall business results, with a focus on the North American supply chain.
  • Effectively segment the supply chain in order to develop and implement strategic sourcing and category management initiatives, to identify alternate sourcing options, increase leverage in the supply chain, and drive improved supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with key Business Unit and manufacturing leaders, to rationalize the supply chain, develop global commodity strategies, and ensure sourcing decisions are aligned to a best-in-class supply chain.
  • Active management of supplier’s total performance, inclusive of pricing, OTD, lead-time, quality, capacity & ramp responsiveness; when performance issues emerge, lead interactions with the supplier to ensure efficient resolution
  • Build a comprehensive supplier engagement model, developing strategic partnerships focused on optimizing value, continuity of supply, price stability, continuous improvement, and technology innovation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by utilizing KPI’s, tools, metrics, and systems to achieve best-in-class performance. Identify strategies to deliver year-over-year cost improvements.
  • Structure analysis of spend to enable informed decision-making and drive discussions with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure sourcing efforts leverage market intelligence, should-cost modeling, and TCO analysis.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with suppliers to review performance, technology roadmap, performance to contractual obligations, and meeting stakeholder expectations..
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to centralize spend and leverage relationships for company savings.
  • Responsible for New Product Introduction sourcing and industrialization, sourced in alignment with commodity strategies, that meet targeted costs, quality and lead-time.
  • Negotiate major contracts and coordinates purchasing activities with the engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levels. Review and plan requirements for inventory.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions.
  • Monitor and understand corporate financial measurements that dictate changes in department activities.
  • Coordinate with finance/accounting on matters involving inventory.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function through hiring, managing, and retaining a high-performance U.S. sourcing team.

Management Responsibility : Oversee direct staff of supply chain, sourcing and procurement professionals located in our U.S. development centers in San Diego, CA, St. Paul, MN and Norwood, MA.

Qualifications :

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, Business or Supply Chain preferred.

Professional Affiliations: Membership with CIPS/BPICS or equivalent highly desired.

Experience:

8+ years of progressive responsibility and leadership in strategic sourcing functions, preferably in back-end semiconductor capital equipment.

Skills/Technical Requirements:

  • A track record of year-over-year delivery of distinctive value from strategic supply chain activities for a large enterprise.
  • Considerable experience working in companies that design and manufacture large, complex electro- mechanical systems, as well as machine fabrication.
  • Skilled in materials management: purchasing, planning, warehouse, inventory management and logistics.
  • Detailed knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Oracle Cloud products preferred) and JIT philosophies.
  • Expert negotiation skills within an engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in creating and implementing new processes to increase efficiencies.
  • Experience in supplier process development, quality management and understanding of failure analysis and problem solving.
  • Broad-based procurement experience; strategic sourcing, category management, contract management, and supplier performance management.
  • A flexible, self-demanding and proactive individual who is able to motivate themselves and others successfully in a highly dynamic, high-pressure environment while remaining calm and confident.
  • Creative thinking and strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities. Experience making decisions and track record of managing multiple issues successfully.
  • Advanced-level financial and analytical skills; embraces fact-based decision making; naturally seeks to leverage and/or integrate market data, spend analytics, and modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a cross-functional environment with all levels of management and employees with additional ability to build and maintain internal relationships and influence procurement decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.

Job Conditions/Physical Demands : Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment but may spend time at customer sites and factory floors. Regular domestic and occasional international travel is required.
