We are looking for outgoing, caring Russian Speaking Social Worker to work in our Washington Heights office to provide casework services and advocate for clients in the Holocaust Survivor Program.

Under the direct supervision of the CFO, the Director of Finance will oversee the day-to-day operations of Home Care Billing, Payroll and Budgeting. Will be directly responsible for oversight of the Payroll Department. Responsible for preparation of the annual budget, as well as budget to actual analysis on a quarterly basis. Ensures that all Federal and State payroll laws are being followed. Works with our outside Payroll vendor to ensure that all applicable payroll tax returns are prepared and filed accurately and timely. Will ensure that all home care billings are done timely and accurately.

To be considered you must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance; seven to ten years of directly related experience, with five years of supervisory experience.
  • Manages one or more employees in the Finance Department, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Computer literate
  • Problem solving abilities while multi-tasking; ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and work independently with a great attention to detail

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversee the Payroll Department
  • Oversee the budget process for Selfhelp and Affiliates
  • Ensure that all applicable Medicaid regulations are being adhered to.
  • Works with staff to ensure that budget to actual reports are sent out timely and variances are addressed.
  • Will develop a plan to meet with Directors on a quarterly basis to discuss budget variance and form a plan to address these variances.
  • Develop new payroll reports and devise more efficient processing/managing/reporting of payroll.
  • Meets all departments reporting requirements
  • Performs other duties as requested
  • Adhere to organization’s standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
  • Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
  • Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance

Working Conditions/Hybrid Schedule:

  • Business Office Environment with phone and computer use.
  • This position works on a hybrid work schedule with the expectation to be in the office 2-3 days per week.
