Pitcairn’s Family Services supports individuals and families navigating the life cycle challenges of wealth stewardship through our learning journey to guide families as they integrate all aspects of wealth. In support of our Family Services expansion, Pitcairn is hiring a Director of Family Engagement based in the tri-state New York area to service our network of families.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director of Family Engagement will work with the Chief Knowledge and Learning Officer to support our team of Relationship Managers to guide and support individuals and families as they engage with challenges of building wealth momentum across generations.
- Areas of predictable challenges requiring conversation and coaching in navigating wealth across the life cycle, including:
- Parenting and living with wealth
- Developing purpose and meaning
- Clarifying family culture/values
- Effective communication – assertiveness, empathy, emotional literacy
- Navigating conflict between people and groups
- Navigating transition and succession
- Identifying and clarifying, roles and responsibilities, in the family enterprise
- Supporting family decision making
- Building life-long resilience and well being
- Financial literacy for family members of various ages
- Leadership development and transition to new roles
- Using assessments for individual and group feedback
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct coaching, consultation, and educational sessions for individuals, couples, and families to support growth and development of family members across generations and throughout the life cycle.
- Facilitate individual and group conversations to identify family dynamics and take steps to promote conditions for good communication, decisions and relationships.
- Build trusting relationships with clients.
- Design and deliver educational sessions to support wealth inheriting and wealth generating founders on how to maintain wealth momentum through the life cycle.
- Engage in on-line or in-person family meetings.
- Grow effective and collaborative internal partnerships with Managing Directors, Relationship Managers, and other Family Office Group team members.
- Participate in the reviews of client accounts to ensure family services are aligned to client needs as well as explore client deepening opportunities.
- Perform other duties as required by the position
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in education and learning development, psychology, social work, or counseling. Masters preparation preferred. 5+ years of experience in coaching, training, facilitation. Coaching certification is desirable. Experience working with conflict around money and finance, supporting strong wealth stewardship and leadership as well as family decision-making. Familiarity with applying family systems theory and practice to working with families. Knowledge in financial and wealth management topics and experience with a financial services firm is preferred. Experience with assessing needs and developing customized education support workshops. Experience designing and facilitating learning sessions online or in-person for family meetings is strongly preferred. Experience designing, organizing and facilitating peer events and networks (virtual and in-person).
