Director of Continuous Improvement Job at GRFT
Summary/Objective
The primary role of the Director, Continuous Improvement is to drive operational excellence within Grand Rapids Foam Technologies. This individual will be responsible for coaching, leading, and managing the deployment of continuous improvement activities utilizing various tools and methodologies directed at improving business processes and financial performance of the organization.
This leader will have a strong understanding of value streams, management of constraints, material requirements planning, capacity management and operational flow systems. This role will partner with business leaders to establish a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, establishing robust business management processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Essential Functions
- Develops and drives continuous improvement maturity assessment and roadmaps.
- Partners with business leaders and functions to identify and capture process improvement opportunities.
- Provide expertise, leadership, and training on lean, 6 sigma, and other structured continuous improvement principles and tools to all employees across the organization.
- Develop Green Belt certification strategy.
- Properly engage and collaborate with all functions of the organization to ensure alignment of continuous improvement strategy and support of appropriate stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and culture.
- Facilitates continuous improvement events critical to fulfilling short and long-term strategic initiatives.
- Ensures follow up actions are addressed from continuous improvement events.
- Develops tools and platforms to drive transformation across the enterprise.
- Lead the development and implementation of standard processes.
- Model, lead, and coach people on the culture change necessary to support, drive, and sustain continuous improvement.
- Drive the Implementation of the OpEx Framework - Business Operating System.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, Business, or relate field.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as change agent with a proven track record of delivering results.
- Six Sigma Certified (Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt).
- Demonstrated knowledge Lean Principles and 6 sigma tools (i.e., value stream mapping, kaizens, problem solving, 3P, visual management, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach, mentor, and coach on continuous improvement programs.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess business priorities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong collaborative work ethic and ability to build and maintain relationships at various levels of the organization.
- Excellent MS Office skills.
- Proficiency in time and project management; ability to manage multiple priorities with speed and accuracy.
- The ability to influence through a data driven approach to problem solving.
- Workshop and facilitation skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
