Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
The Director of Administrative Services shall be directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent. Directs and coordinates activities concerned with administration of all division services, including instruction, student health, maintenance, transportation, and school nutrition.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated dedication to students and their needs.
- Ability to utilize technology for instruction, data and analysis, and administrative purposes.
- Requires a minimum of a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision or licensure in Administration and Supervision.
- At least five years or recent successful experience as a building administrator or division supervisory position
- Knowledge of school safety protocols, crisis management, and effective school culture.
- Demonstrated successful administrative/supervisory work experience and general leadership ability and personal characteristics necessary for working with teachers, administrators, parents, students and the community.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions and concerns from the teachers, administrators and parents.
- Strong organizational, management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Models strong work ethic and high standards for all employees.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of school administration, curriculum and instruction for grades PK-12.
- Alternative qualifications as the Superintendent and School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors facilities to ensure safety, security, and maintenance.
- Ensures that facilities meet environmental, health, and security standards and comply with government regulations. Oversees the contracting of maintenance services.
- Monitors and recommends changes to school security systems to ensure school safety. Oversees Access Control and Surveillance systems.
- Supervise and monitor all facility rentals and building use agreements in coordination with building administrators.
- Participates in student disciplinary hearings in compliance with Greene County School Board policies, procedures, and mandates.
- Acts as hearing officer for any Title IX, or harassment complaint.;
- Works with the Director of Transportation, Director of School Nutrition and Facilities Coordinator in keeping abreast of issues pertinent to the daily operations of the school division.
- Collaborate with community agencies and the Department of Transportation to evaluate road conditions and make recommendations to the division superintendent during inclement weather situations.
- Acts as the central office contact for the school student health services including oversight of school based nursing personnel. his includes chairing the School Health Advisory Committee. Completes state reports related to activities of the School Health.
- Coordinates Division & School Crisis Plans ensuring compliance with annual state regulations and completing associated audits and reporting.
- Leads the safety and crisis planning for the school division. Compiles and submits safety and school construction related requests and reports to Virginia Department of Education.
- Supervises the field trip approval process for the school division.
- Serves as central office liaison for School Resource Officers, law enforcement, and other emergency services.
- Serves as the central office point of contact for community events, volunteers, and division-wide activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
Frequent walking, stooping, standing, lifting, up to approximately 30 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required. Other limited physical activities are required. Travel to schools throughout the division and central office is required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members, school administrators, and members of the community is required.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of personnel.
TERMS OF CONTRACT:
12 Month – 250 Days – 8.5 Hours per Day
