WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The Director, Controllership develops objectives, goals, accounting and reporting policies, processes, and procedures for the accounting function. S/he sets goals and objectives for team to achieve accounting and reporting requirements.

The Controllership function is responsible for the operations and controls surrounding accounting, tax and financial reporting of the institution. This function’s responsibilities demonstrates expertise in processing transactions, recording accounting entries, managing the general ledger and reconciliations, and interpreting and complying with technical accounting matters and financial reporting disclosure requirements. Through the Controllership function, stakeholders receive relevant insight and commentary on transaction-level and financial results for analysis and decision making. The Tax function prepares income tax returns and indirect tax filings. Provides research and advice on tax-related matters.

  • Develops and implements accounting objectives, operating policies, and standards in support of the department and functional strategy.

  • Manages and sets the goals and objectives for the Accounting department team members.

  • Influences others through information exchanges and active persuasion to gain cooperation of others.

  • Implements new accounting standard changes and automation of accounting and reporting processes.

  • Bachelor's Degree or 9+ years, Accounting, Financial reporting or Auditing field.

  • Advanced accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP/IFRS and regulatory reporting standards.

  • Advanced skills in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting softwares for both general ledger and regulatory accounting.

  • Ability to direct, train and guide peers, subordinates and management.

  • Ability to handle conflict resolution with other groups to ensure appropriate accounting guidance is followed.

  • Ability to adjust to new developments/changing circumstances.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with multiple levels of the organizational structure, including senior level management.
