Position Summary
UTHealth Houston’s McGovern Medical School (MMS) is seeking a Director of Accreditation and Continuous Quality Improvement to develop, administer, evaluate and assure the quality of all MMS academic programs. This newly created position reports directly to the Dean of Education and will work in close coordination with the assistant dean for accreditation and educational quality improvement, MMS leadership, the Office of Educational Programs and the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs.
The Director of Accreditation will develop and oversee processes for compliance within the established accreditation requirements for the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Colleges (SACSCOC), and other educational accreditation bodies. The data-informed leader will coordinate all institutional and annual reporting for accrediting bodies and produce data reports to support continuous improvement assessing educational components around areas such as DEI, student satisfaction and curriculum during clinical rotations. This leader will also oversee the processes for monitoring compliance with accreditation standards and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Founded in 1969, McGovern Medical School (MMS) was established to aid in closing the gap in physician shortages and accepted 19 students in its first class in 1970. Today, MMS is the eighth largest and most diverse medical school in the United States with over 2,000 faculty members and 1,000 residents and fellows. With 240 medical students currently enrolled in each class, MMS is positioned to meet the growing demand of physicians throughout the state of Texas and beyond. Accredited by the Liaison LCME and by SACSCOC, MMS is affiliated with Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center (which was recently named the second top-teaching hospital in the nation), MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Harris Health System.
Position Key Accountabilities
1. Develops and/or reviews processes, timelines, and workflows for all degree programs at MMS to
ensure compliance with accreditation.
2. Oversees effective quality improvement plans and process improvement practices related to
academic programs.
3. Assesses, tracks, and demonstrates successful outcomes relevant to accreditation standards,
campus, and state policies.
4. Provides leadership of, or participation in, special projects related to the academic mission of the
institution as determined by the Dean of Education or other members of the Dean's Leadership
Team.
5. Directs strategic planning initiatives and creates unit objectives and goals to ensure compliance
with established rules and regulations.
6. Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and
unit objectives.
7. Works with MMS Leadership to establish and implement a methodology for recording and tracking
MMS policies and their approval and review processes.
8. Coordinates with key stakeholders on updates to the MMS Strategic Plan.
9. Assesses, tracks, and demonstrates successful outcomes relevant to Strategic Plans.
10. Engages at the regional and national level with accreditation leaders to identify best practices, and
participate in ongoing accreditation workshops and seminars.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

- The ideal candidate will be organized, detail- oriented and a skilled investigator, staying abreast of LCME and SACSCOC rules and regulations.

Minimum Education
Master's Degree in related field. Ph.D. preferred.
Minimum Experience
Candidates should have at least five years of experience in educational program assessment and accreditation, preferably within a school of medicine.
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
