Position Summary:
As NAVEX’s Internal Platform Software Engineering Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership to a talented team of software engineers building an internal platform to enhance our developers' experience. You will provide technical leadership, help your team grow their careers and focus the team on delivering optimal value to NAVEX.
This role is focused on leading a team that is taking charge to delight the experience our developers' have through our journey so they can build impactful solutions. What You Will Do:
· Lead, coach, mentor and develop a high performing, geographically dispersed DevOps team that enables NAVEX to deliver to production quickly, reliably and safely
· Guide and support engineering teams as NAVEX develops new software in AWS
· Own the software delivery process for all applications
· Collaborate with on- and offshore team members on the design and development of cool new product features and enhancements
· Remove roadblocks and bottlenecks for the teams and resolve questions in real-time
· Establish and grow relationships in our organization with other stakeholders who support and advance our products
· Work with the Director on quality and process standards, reviewing expectations and standards across the teams
· Work with team leads to build out improvements to the ways we serve our customers
· Manage and administer development tools – GitHub, CodeCommit, CodeBuild, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, AWS, etc.
· Provide constructive and honest feedback during sprint retrospectives
What You Will Need:
· A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline or equivalent experience
· 12+ years of experience with AWS, CloudFormation, Serverless Framework or equivalent
· 4+ years of experience managing, leading and mentoring direct reports
· A passion for collaboration and helping engineering teams deliver solutions faster and more reliably
· A solid understanding of SaaS software built in .NET and deployed in both datacenter and cloud environments; must have experience in at least one programming or scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, C#, Java, JavaScript etc.)
· An ability to bridge the gap between engineering and operational concerns
· Agile software development experience and best practices, unit testing, continuous integration and a passion for automating manual work
· An ability to understand complex system configurations and drive simplification to increase supportability
· Solid understanding of source control tools such as Git, GitHub, CodeCommit
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn and come up to speed quickly on new technologies, self-motivated attitude
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a commitment to engage and collaborate with people across a variety of levels with diverse backgrounds
