Nature of Work
The Civil Design Associate will assist and lead the design and preconstruction efforts for assigned design-build projects._ The location of this position is flexible and could be located in either our Austin or Kansas City locations._
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Review Owner's criteria including RFPs to determine the scope of design requirements on design-build projects. Analyze criteria against applicable code and regulations to maintain compliance
• Collaborate with estimating personnel to achieve project and department objectives
• Take an active role in preconstruction and design teams in the development of large site planning based upon core engineering and market based standards
• Identify and analyze principle design features, requirements, phasing, and conflicts associated with the site plan
• Utilize CAD in development of site planning drawings to be used in coordination with the design team
• Assist in the development and management of internal drafting standards
• Assist in the development and management of design and permitting review standards
• Assist and lead preconstruction and design teams in directing, reviewing, and facilitating of design and drawing development from concept to final design
• Participate in compiling technical responses and qualifications for RFPs and RFQs
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy, and presentation meetings as requested
• Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment of the project design
• Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization

Qualifications

• Strong communicator with interpersonal hard/soft skills; role will work within a dynamic/fast-paced team/client environment
• Ability to multitask and handle multiple, complex projects simultaneously
• Proficiency within AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil3D -1+ years of experience preferred
• Detailed understanding of land development principles, including, but not limited to: Utility design and layout, stormwater and water quality design and layout, access and roadway design and layout, earthwork/geotechnical principles, surveying principles, permitting requirements, code requirements, construction plan review and development
• Strong understanding of construction plan development, review, and development process

Education

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field from a four-year college/university, or equivalent experience.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural related discipline preferred.

Experience
One to seven (1 - 7) years or more of related work experience required.
