Metropol Bakery is looking to hire a croissant baker!! We are looking to fill Sunday and Monday. Approximately 16-20 hours a week, with an increase of hours during holidays. Croissants. They tend to bring to mind an image of a quaint café in Paris where you have sat to enjoy the morning, the aroma of a steaming cup of coffee in reach as you take your first bite of a warm, buttery, flaky croissant…This is an opportunity for you to come work with us at Metropol Bakery and learn the skills involved in making and baking croissants from scratch as well as other pastries such as Pain au Chocolat; the traditional after school treat of French children! The croissant shift typically starts at 3pm and will be roughly a 7-12 hour shift. Depending on the amount of projects that night as well as your speed. Any night owls looking for a job? Skills and knowledge in croissant baking are not necessary. However, attention to detail is a helpful skill to have, and you must be able to lift at least 55lb, comfortably stand on your feet for hours at a time, and be dependable. The croissant baker’s duties include, but are not limited to, shaping dough, proofing, baking, following recipes, maintaining a clean work environment, making glazes and fruit fillings. The dough used for the pastries is actually started two days prior as it is a laminated dough and has many lawyers of beautiful buttery lamination! We take great pride in every step, from weighing the ingredients to sliding the freshly baked pastries onto the cooling racks and packaging up pastry orders. We hope to welcome someone that will take pride in their pastries just as we do and gain happiness from being a croissant baker.
