The Team
The Mattel Global Consumer Products Design team focuses on delivering pitches, style guides, and creative direction that informs licensed product development around the world for Mattel brands. This team creates artwork and inspiration to drive Consumer Products product development (not marketing).
The Opportunity
The Global Creative Director is responsible for overall creative direction for Mattel’s Doll Properties within Franchise/Consumer Products. The Creative Director immersed in future trends, current state of the business, and the future of the brand. This role collaborates within the department and company to establish global, relevant and brand-right creative strategies and materials needed to support the business. The Global CD must be able to work with external partners and be a wealth of creativity while maintaining the brand. The Global Creative Director manages the creative team is the CP brand level globally, working across the world to ensure consistency and support across all aspects of consumer product development. This is a fast-paced, visible role that needs an extremely high level of creativity and taste, excellent prioritization, organizational and collaboration/communication skills.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Creative Director is responsible for the below at a high level:
Brand creative responsibility across tentpoles, campaigns, and other marketing moments into product development creative assets and presentations/collections
Oversee and direct Style guides and all other CP/Franchise creative
Oversee global category toolkits and product inspiration based on brand vision
Always up to date on current and emerging fashion and consumer trends and able to curate/apply to multiple brands to drive categories and collection
Global pitch development
Provide creative strategic direction and support to priority global licensees/programs
Partner with Product Approval team to provide support for priority licensees
Support Halo programs/collaborations with design direction and asset curation
Partner with cross functional creative teams to ensure creative consistency
Partner with Product approval team on priority licensee line execution
Partner with other internal creative teams on key category/program development to ensure creative consistency
Lead team brainstorm sessions (as well as cross-functional sessions) for new product development and innovation
Partner with all relevant stakeholders on creative guide development to drive relevant business
Able to Art direct any character art needed for guides
Ensure all assets created are technically excellent and compatible to their intended use
Leading, mentoring and developing their team
What We’re Looking For:
Requirements:
- 10-12 years professional experience, including 4+ as a manager
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving
- Licensing, Product and Fashion design experience
- Skilled in Graphic Design, pitch creation and presentation
- Advanced skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and Power point (InDesign is a plus)
- Strong knowledge of colors, materials and finishes
- Able to Draw and sketch as well as verbally communicate ideas
- Knowledge of hard and softlines manufacturing processes
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent presentation skills required
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
- Excellent Collaborator and partner
- Ability to delegate, coach and develop a creative team
