Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Provide assistance to the family courts and DSS by tracking child protection and TPR cases and expediting the legal processing of these cases. The court liaison functions as a conduit between DSS legal teams and family courts through funding from a federal grant and DSS contract by completing DSS legal file reviews, attending court hearings, and identifying training needs for all involved parties.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree and 1 year related program experience, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the South Carolina family court system. Degree in related field. Previous work as a Court Liaison with the Children’s Law Center.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Working knowledge of state and federal laws related to child welfare and familiarity with DSS policy and procedures. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to establish effective working relationships with judges, lawyers, court personnel, including clerks of court and their staff, and agency staff. Must have technological skills sufficient to enter case history information into a data tracking system. Ability to read, understand, and create (when necessary) basic statistical reports related to child welfare data.
