Blue Ridge Health is currently seeking a Counselor to be part of our Behavioral Health Team at Lake Lure Academy and Polk County Schools.


The Behavioral Health Counselor is responsible for providing outpatient mental health treatment/service to patients in an integrated medical care setting and to youth in the school setting and to their families, as requested. The position requires interaction with provider agencies and referral sources, participating in team meetings when appropriate and requested, and offering education and support to the community


Eligible for a sign on bonus of $1000, $3000, or $5000 dependent on agreed contracted service length of 1, 2, or 3 years respectively.

Responsibilities:
Evaluate existing, new and prospective patients based on their needs, desires and limitations
Maintain constant communication with patients while addressing their concerns and goals and helping them keep positive attitudes
Provide Behavioral Health services in an integrated care setting
Provide Behavioral Health services in a school setting
Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and in-house clinical guidelines
Build rapport with patients and their families and collaborate with the health care team.
Develop care plans for patients and provide therapeutic support as needed

Description of Primary Attributes:
Comfortable helping patients adapt to their limitations
Familiar with assisting families with important decisions about their loved ones
Ability to work in an integrated care setting with medical and other behavioral health providers
Ability to work with and critically analyze psychosocial models

Professional and Technical Knowledge:

Master’s Degree in Social Work
Valid and current LCSW license
LCAS or LCAC licensure
Ability to perform bio-psychosocial assessments and develop and implement viable treatment plans
2 years clinical social work experience
Experience with Electronic Health Records
Experience in individual and group therapy including recovery work
Excellent listening and communication skills
Bilingual preferred

Physical Demands:
Moves in and out of provider offices, front office, hallways, and waiting room.
Some bending and stooping required. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds requires assistance.
Requires manual dexterity to maneuver for operating office equipment
Visual activity required to respond and react to client observations.
Eye and hand coordination and finger dexterity needed to perform data entry and reviewing software.
Must be able to read and generate written communication and documentation.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies.
