The Cost Analyst will be a key resource to Finance and Operations. The role will focus on financial costing & analysis, budgeting & forecasting, and inventory processes and procedures. This position will require a strong knowledge base in inventory costing, variance analysis, the ability to seek out process/procedural improvements, and exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills. This role is essential in building a strong resource for innovative product costing analysis, variance analysis, and robust policies and procedures at Daisy Brand.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES TO ENSURE ACHIEVEMENT OF KEY RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES

Financial Costing & Analysis

• Assist in BOM evaluation based on corporate policies and changes in production processes
• Cost inventory timely and accurately at the end of each month
• Evaluate variance accounts related to cost and production, provide insight when needed
• Assist with month end close processes and reconciling inventory and accrual accounts
• Review raw material accounts to validate consumptions are accurate based on BOMs
• Analyze inventory losses and understand their root cause
• Understand all contracts surrounding raw materials and how those contracts impact costing
• Review cycle counts for raw materials and Finished Goods, research discrepancies
• Reconcile parts inventory and communicate with needed parties to adjust discrepancies
• Constantly strive for innovation and continuous improvement

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in the annual corporate Opex budgeting process and reforecasting when applicable
• Assist in budgeting for raw material expenses
• Aid in the collection and review of conversion costs with each facility’s plant managers
• Aid in the maintenance of data loaded into ERP system and support expansion of software capabilities
• Understand and report on incremental costs by SKU

Inventory Processes & Procedures

• Provide support in documenting internal controls, policies and procedures for inventory
• Assist in the validation that policies and procedures are being followed
• Build strong knowledge on DAX/D365 framework and needed data tangents to Archestra and Avantis

Ad-hoc Analysis

• Provide reporting and data based on organizational needs as they pertain to the cost of inventory and cost of goods
  sold
• Provide assistance to Operations as needed in order to provide insights in order to make improved business decisions

KEY RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES (WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE)

• Become subject matter expert of inventory/costing function to deliver timely and accurate financial results
• Establish strong working relationships with Operations and cross functional departments
• Proactively provide analysis and insight into monthly results
• Perform administration, maintenance and input into the inventory function independently and accurately
• Consistent and effective approach to managing assigned tasks
• Self-starter who can work independently while managing several tasks and/or project contemporaneously

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in business related field of study from an accredited college required, preference to Accounting or
  Finance focus
• Experience in Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
• Minimum of two years of work experience in accounting or finance related role preferred
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Travel required for physical inventory observations and budget planning
