LOCATION: Paschal Sherman Indian School; Omak, WA
Basic Functions: This position has the responsibility of the USDA Food Service Program for 200 children who are enrolled at Paschal Sherman Indian School. Plan and prepare meals for school/community gatherings up to 500 people. Responsibilities include general cleaning duties of the kitchen.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED and previous experience in cooking for large groups of people, planning meals, ordering food/kitchen supplies, records management and reporting, and mathematical skills.
- Requires a valid Washington State Drivers License and must be eligible for Tribal insurance.
- Requires a Food Handlers card.
- Requires a First Aid/CPR Card or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Requires submitting proof of degree, transcripts, certifications, and THREE written letters of recommendation upon applying.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of basic nutrition and food preparation.
- Requires knowledge of cultural foods and ability to incorporate them.
- Requires ability to plan and prepare nutritious and palatable meals for children according to USDA requirements as well as PSIS standards.
- Requires ability to maintain and complete daily and monthly records/reports.
- Requires ability to assist in scheduled USDA Food Services monitoring, audit, and compliance reviews.
- Requires ability to assist in nutritional assessments of children.
- Requires ability to maintain professionalism at all times.
- Requires ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and subordinates.
- Requires attending training, workshops, and courses relating to the position when authorized.
- Requires ability to provide Janitorial services to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Requires signing PSIS Confidentiality Oath Form.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
