Dynamic and growing Government Contractor in the Bethesda, MD is seeking an experienced Controller. The Controller will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Accounting Department and the management of 3-4 accounting staff. The Corporate Controller position reports to the Vice President, Finance and is primarily responsible for integrity of the general ledger, financial planning and analysis, preparation/delivery/presentation of internal and external reports development/recommendation/implementation of strategies and policies, promotion of a strong internal control environment, and all accounting functions, practices and policies. This position serves as a leader in our organization and a trusted financial business advisor to Program Leadership. The ideal candidate shall have current knowledge of FAR, experience with DCAA or other Agency auditors, external CPAs, and the government audit process.

Qualifications and Requirements*
The individual chosen for this position should possess the following skills and abilities:
- Oversee the work of the Accounting function; periodically review work priorities and assignments. Ensure continued learning and development of department staff, interview and recommend candidates to fill openings when necessary
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of overall objectives, process improvements, policies and procedures for the Accounting department and adjust priorities as necessary.
- Maintain policies and procedures which comply with federal and state regulations
- Develop departmental programs to comply with organizational requirements
- Provide financial consulting and strategic support to all levels of management and staff including preparation of presentations to share updates, analysis, and insights
- Identify, develop, and recommend revisions to internal standards, policies, operating procedures, financial controls, as well as new programs to improve effectiveness, transparency & client focus
- Work with corporate managers at all levels to ensure appropriate transaction recording and financial information reporting
- Make recommendations to complex decisions regarding a variety of financial and business management activities
- Ensure the integrity of internal and external financial reports to financial institutions, regulatory authorities, public and internal examiners and management
- Ensure that all financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP, FAR and CAS and apply advanced knowledge of accounting principles to work performed
- Prepare, analyze, monitor and or review internal and external financial statements, supporting financial data schedules and operating performance information
- Prepare and submit annual Incurred Cost Submission and Provisional Indirect Rate Proposal
- Prepare annual Financial Plan, periodic updates to financial forecasts and maintain related models in accordance with business trends and general accounting principles
- Partner with external service providers to manage tax compliance
- 10 or more years of experience, including 5 years of management experience, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Educational and Licensure Requirements
- BS in Accounting is required for this position.
- A Certified Public Accountant is preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with Unanet or other mid-level Government Contracting Accounting Systems such as Cost Point required. Experience with report writing software and Power BI, desired
- Understanding of FAR Part 31.2
- Knowledge in area of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Experience and comfort working with data extraction, reformatting and uploads
- Advanced MS Office Suite skills
