Position Overview:
Hayes is looking for a results-driven and continuous improvement minded individual to direct the financial and accounting activities as well as safeguard all company assets. The Controller oversees the operations of the Finance team, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis, cost accounting and payroll. The Controller is also the liaison to Hayes’ international locations in Asia (China and Taiwan) and Germany as well as a strategic business partner to the President of the Bike division.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, recommend, and implement accounting policies as well as the coordination of systems and procedures
- Maintain Hayes’ systems of accounts and keeps books and records of all company transactions and assets
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
- Establish, coordinate, and administer an adequate plan of control for operations including profit planning, programs for capital investing and financing as well as quarterly forecasts
- Compare performance with operating plans, budgets and standards, reports and interpret the results of operations to all levels of management
- Assure protection and conservation of company assets through internal controls, internal/external audits, and proper insurance coverage
- Supervise and coordinate cash management system and borrowing activities
- Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
- Prepare Governmental compliance and regulatory reports as required
- Establish and administer tax policies and procedures and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
- Serve as liaison between the Company and legal counsel, independent public accountants, and lenders
- Administer defined contribution and benefit plans
- Provide company management with information and data to assist in their functional capacity
- Follow all established ISO/Quality procedures and participates in continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Master's Degree or equivalent preferred
- 10+ years of experience as a Controller, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- Strong managerial ability and interest to mentor and develop both direct and indirect reports
- Knowledge of general accounting processes and principles
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems
- Microsoft Office experience and strong Microsoft Office Excel skills
- Ability to analyze complex financial and operational data
- Ability to creatively problem solve
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written
- Ability to draft reports and effectively present information to top management and other employees of the organization
- Ability to work accurately and independently
