Job Title: Concrete Finisher

Reports To: Concrete Foreman

Job Role:

A finisher is responsible for performing various tasks to aid daily operations at a construction site and ensure that surfaces are finished to look good and remain structurally sound. The duties and responsibilities are all geared toward maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient construction site while also helping to develop the skills of others within the crew. This position will report to the concrete foreman and be a key component in the success of the concrete division within RP Constructors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean up worksites
• Contribute to the success of the crew
• Assist the crew on-site and in the yard
• Handle and transport materials and equipment
• Use power tools and machinery when needed
• Work to meet project completion timelines
• Clearing the worksites of any debris and equipment before and after work
• Set up and tear down of forms and footings, including slab on grade and wall forms
• Mold expansion joints and edges
• Bend, form, tie and installing rebar. Perform wire mesh cutting duties and use wire mesh to reinforce the concrete
• Set up a transit on established points to shoot building lines
• Grade checks and prep work prior to concrete placement
• Work with buckets and pump truck to place concrete
• Apply waterproofing and sealant to protect the concrete work

• Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues
• Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver
• Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions
• Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process
• Applying sealing and hardening components
• Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted
• Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools
• Operate skid loader, laser screed, and telehandler effectively
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Detailed orientated
• Good communication, interpersonal skills, and a team player
• Able to identify materials and tools
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Ability to complete job site layout from survey points
• Ability to read basic blueprints

Goals

• Absent less than twice per quarter
• Tardy less than twice per quarter
• No safety incidents for the year

Education and Qualifications:

• Must be able to work long, flexible hours including weekends (Required)
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job: lift up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods of time (Required)
• Willingness to travel to different locations and work in a variety of weather conditions (Required)
• Familiarity with hand and power tools like shovels, rakes, mixers, forklifts, and power washers (Required)
• Minimum two years experience working as a concrete laborer or finisher (Required)
• Reliable transportation (Required)
• Must have working knowledge of the concrete laborer position (Required)
• Have a valid driver license (Preferred)
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certified (Preferred)
• American Concrete Institution certified (Preferred)
