The Community Resource Manager procures year-round in-kind donations benefiting YWCA program participants receiving services within the Emergency Services departments and oversees our seasonal giving drives. This position is also responsible for supervision of community volunteers used to support their work and the supervision of the food bank coordinator. The manager plans and executes community relations activities with department directors including events, tours, and required speaking engagements.

This position has a social justice component that will allow for critical thinking around how the external systems impact the work that we are doing through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Note: Hybrid, 2-3 days in office, depending on project coordination and supervision.

  • Manage in-kind donations at King County YWCA sites including communicating with potential in-kind donors, notifying staff of available items.
  • Inventory donations in data system as required and in compliance with YWCA policies
  • Maintains all donor integrity.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of RSJ plans for community resources development.
  • Educate donors and community on the importance of challenging traditional models of charity in favor of the YWCA’s empowered giving model.
  • Coordinate the thanking of special in-kind donors at all King County sites in conjunction with Donor & Information Services.
  • Contact retail stores, businesses, and community members to seek in-kind donations such as toiletries, undergarments, clothes, and household items as needed.
  • Meet with Emergency Services managers/directors to develop and plan supply drives based on current needs.
  • Coordinate volunteers including annual volunteer appreciation parties, writing thank you notes, and other special recognition in conjunction with Volunteer Services.
  • Coordinate the annual School Days and seasonal giving programs for King County emergency services programs.
  • Coordinate with the Regional Director and other Emergency Services staff to publicize events and special interest stories.
  • Attend community meetings and events as assigned by Regional Director.
  • Attend King County all-staff meetings, YWCA meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Make occasional trips to other YWCA sites to pick up and drop off donations, interoffice correspondence, and other items as needed.
  • Incorporate YWCA’s Social Justice Initiative by understanding how racism, sexism, classism, and other oppressions intersect and are embedded in institutions.
  • Continue search for understanding of racial, gender and class equity.
  • Adhere to all Volunteer Services protocol relative to volunteer usage, recognition, and monitoring.
  • Assure that clients, residents, staff, volunteers, and community partners are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender, or socioeconomic background.
  • Collaborate across the organization (with Development, the Food Bank, Volunteer Services, Snohomish County staff) on organization wide projects and other tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience·

  • BA in related field or equivalent combination of education
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create volunteer projects: recruit, train, supervise and keep records of volunteers/projects
  • Knowledge of King County philanthropic landscape and other resources within the area
  • Washington State Driver’s License, reliable auto, and insurance (IRS rate mileage reimbursement)

Technology Skills

  • High-level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Adobe DocuSign, and Zoom

Communication

  • Strong public speaking skills required
  • Strong writing skills preferred
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of people required
  • Ability to project a positive image of the agency to the public
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational, writing, and record-keeping skills
  • Willingness to collaborate with other staff members

  • Strong understanding of intersectionality and social justice principles
  • Able to apply race and gender equity knowledge to YWCA Annual Evaluation
  • Ability to work with the public, clients, and staff from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Commitment to working with homeless families and the ability to communicate effectively and in a caring way with any persons who are in crisis
  • Demonstrated understanding of the intersection of racism and poverty

Other Job Duties and Competencies

  • Data entry experience
  • Strong knowledge of issues surrounding homelessness, domestic violence, racism, poverty, substance abuse, mental illness, and affordable housing
  • Be self-directed and able to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to create marketing materials
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; strong time management skills
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Travel between all King County sites
