Community Relations Director Job at Peace River Center
The Director will be a passionate advocate for what we do and will have an impact on the community as they help to drive agency brand awareness and visibility. Working closely with the CEO, advisory committees, and other groups, the Director will develop a fundraising and marketing plan to include strategies related to an annual appeal, major donor cultivation and solicitation, planned giving, corporate giving, special event sponsorships, grant writing, marketing, public relations, philanthropy, individual giving, direct mail, and major gifts to attain agency goals. The Director will engage and work with the CEO, program directors, board members, and community friends/volunteers to establish and maintain relationships with corporations, individual donors, funding organizations, and foundations. The director will also direct and manage the writing, design, and production of key publications including annual/donor impact reports and other brochures and printed materials with appropriate distribution within PRC and the community.
This Director of Community Relations and Development will report to the CEO as an integral part of the Peace River Center Executive Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The work of this position will include, but is not limited to:
- Manage all development/fundraising, marketing, and communication efforts in collaboration with the CEO and fundraising advisory committees. Monitor the achievement of plans and take appropriate action to ensure goals and objectives are met.
- Create printed direct mail and program information, identify talking points for news media, social media, e-newsletter, website and collateral material; coordinate their design, production, and distribution with a continual focus on promoting the Peace River Center brand and our positive impact in the tri-county area.
- Establish contacts with media representatives and develop media releases to create visibility, educate the public, and promote agency expertise and services. Maintain updated files of agency media relations and contacts.
- Organize fundraising and donor events to include appropriate thanks and recognition to coincide with donations.
- Develop effective working relationships with service groups, community organizations, and area businesses.
- Prepare speeches and give presentations about the agency and support the CEO's efforts in this area.
- Develop and support giving campaigns and/or other recognition programs aimed at keeping current donors engaged and identifying the next generation of philanthropists for PRC.
- Conduct prospect research, analysis, and strategy. Plan and strategize about potential donor prospects to visit, including leadership, board members, and supporters as needed.
- Visit with prospective donors making asks for support and/or funding. Manage prospect follow-up activities, coordinating with the team to close donations, gifts, pledges, and endowments.
- Oversee the management of all contribution data, including gifts, pledges, and endowments; perform regular analysis and reporting of campaign progress. Oversee prospect/donor correspondence. Ensure donor acknowledgment, stewardship, and public recognition, in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the mission and values of Peace River Center.
- Prepare periodic reports on fundraising and marketing efforts with results for the CEO. Monitor and recommend revisions to the development and marketing plan as needed to meet goals.
- Ensure all fundraising activities and policies comply with ethical principles, legal standards, and reflect the values of Peace River Center and our community.
- Manage the department budget, and department staff, coordinate work schedules, assign tasks, make hiring and personnel adjustments/changes, evaluation of staff, identify professional development opportunities, and ensure compliance with required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) with at least two years of experience and success in fundraising and/or resource development in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated success in developing effective working relationships with foundations, corporations, and individuals in securing major, planned, and annual gifts.
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership, board members, and other key internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Proven supervisory skills including mentoring, directing, and teambuilding.
- This is a full-time position that requires occasional early morning, evening, and weekend time for meetings, special events, and overnight travel.
- Preference will be given to individuals holding certification as a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and/or Professional Certified Marketer (PCM).
- Must have a valid Florida driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current liability vehicle insurance.
Compensation & Benefits:
