POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Equity Advancement (internal focus) and in collaboration with related YMCA staff and volunteers, the Coordinator of Community Impact (CCI) will provide leadership to DEI Food Security work and related wrap-around programming. The CCI will expand food security work to encompass wrap around community health services. They will work cooperatively with YMCA of the Triangle branches and community organizations, and network with a diversity of community-based organizations to ensure programs meet the needs of who we serve. The CCI will collaborate with the YMCA Healthy Living Team toward the goal of increased health access and the Development Office to identify and secure resources to strengthen the infrastructure and support community needs.

The Coordinator of Community Impact is responsible for managing the functions of the program in accordance with the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

***This position is currently being hired as a limited-term position for 6 months through June 2023, at which time the position will be reviewed and a decision will be made about extending the term date or moving the position to a permanent full-time exempt. Due to the initial limited-term benefits will not be offered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Contributes to and supervises the fulfillment of the YMCA mission through the assigned department activities and programs.
  • Responsible for setting vision and strategy for all Food Security and Wrap-around services.
  • Guides the day-to-day operations of the Food Security work to ensure Association Program Guidelines are met.
  • Oversite of cultivating, maintaining and growing partnerships with the Food Banks throughout the communities served by the YMCA of the Triangle.
  • Oversite of federal funded programs - CACFP, SFSP, NC Dept. of Instruction etc. to ensure all State and Federal guidelines are maintained.
  • Oversees the data, reporting and compliance for the food grants in YMCA programs.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within areas of responsibility.
  • Continual evaluation, improvement, and innovation of all assigned programs to ensure they meet or exceed Association guidelines and standards.
  • Responsible for being familiar with the budgeting systems and processes to manage and maintain all grant and budget expectations for respective program areas.
  • In collaboration with the Finance and Financial Development departments, maintains all aspects of financial management systems including expenditure report and payroll.
  • Prepares regular reports for supervisor, Finance, Development and other key stakeholders to communicate the scope of impact of the programs.
  • Participates and leads association teams and projects as assigned. Attends all meetings that are pertinent to this position including program, branch, and any assigned Association team meetings.
  • Drives program quality by being present in Food Programs and other programs as designated.
  • Works with the Food Program Coordinator (FPC) to engage YMCA branches, community organizations and volunteers in support of the tracking and implementation of the YMCA’s Food Security work.
  • Supports the FPC to recruit, train and develop volunteers for Food Security work.
  • Builds focus and alignment with the Association Diversity, Equity and Inclusion goals and the Strategic Plan to ensure systems, processes and procedures are built with a lens of equity.
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and/or 4-5 years of related experience.
  • Experienced and passionate about creating and fostering communities and relationship building through programs.
  • Models a commitment to the YMCA Mission, Purpose, Values and leadership competency model.
  • Ability to effectively manage staff and programs.
  • Strong oral, public speaking and written communication skills.
  • Possess a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and possess the capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.
  • Requires a positive attitude, high level of initiative and professionalism, and enjoys working in and creating a strong team environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative, effectively prioritize, and possess strong organizational, analytical and project management skills.
  • Eligible for (we can provide) CPR, AED, O2 and First Aid certifications, Food Safety certifications/trainings and a commercial Driver’s License, with “P” endorsement, in order to drive a YMCA bus as needed.
  • Proven skills in human relations, relationship building and engagement, public speaking, program management, and volunteer development.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required.

  • Local travel including weeknight and weekend will be necessary
  • The YMCA of the Triangle requires employees to comply with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts. Further training and detail will be provided upon question and/or hire.
