Under general supervision, writes organization-wide communications across all mediums in support of organizational goals and objectives. Supports communications and marketing projects by developing visual and descriptive material and applying it to media such as websites, print, and publications. Assists with external and internal communications, presentations, and newsletters, maintaining consistent quality and brand identity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support the organization’s mission and goals and quality standards. Incorporate KANA’s core values of Courtesy, Caring, Respect, Sharing, Pride, and the Sugpiaq Alutiiq Values in all activities and decisions.
Uphold KANA’s Code of Ethics by conducting professional activities with honesty, integrity, respect, fairness, and good faith in a manner that reflects positively upon the organization.
Assist in the development, preparation, and distribution of information about KANA activities through publications, flyers, community announcements, advertising, and other activities as assigned.
May copy-edit and proofread material to ensure quality and corporate standards for a range of media and marketing copy, external and internal communications, presentations, and newsletters.
Partner with internal groups to understand communication needs and to develop content, developing, and delivering comprehensive communications plans. Coordinate with internal groups to develop content covering all aspects of the organization, including internal communications that keep employees informed of organizational activities.
Ensure the message sent out by the organization is consistent with the overall image that has been cultivated for KANA, and meets KANA’s quality and brand standards.
Proactively prepare content including drafting and production of external and internal publications such as staff and Beneficiary newsletters, Annual Report, website, and social media. Identify opportunities to interview staff and photograph organizational activities and events.
Market internal and external events hosted or sponsored by KANA as requested.
May organize photo shoots, take photos for organizational publications, and ensure photos/videos are taken at important KANA events as appropriate.
Offer technical assistance and resource materials to department and program managers to assist in the marketing and communications of their events and activities.
Manage the slideshow presentations in public lobbies, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
May work with external marketing partners, vendors, and consultants as needed to coordinate marketing efforts.
Provide stocking, material handling, inventory procurement and tracking of promotional items and gifts. Place special orders for merchandise as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Associate's degree or technical school degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field, and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent writing and proofreading skills, and oral and written communication skills. Experience with photography, photo-editing and graphics creations skills is preferred. Ability to think creatively, work calmly under pressure, and solve problems in a timely manner. Highly organized with the ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously while producing quality work.
Proficient in, and have a strong working knowledge of, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite software, with proficiency in PhotoShop, Premiere Pro, and InDesign.
