Organizational Summary:

The USF College of The Arts offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs and enrolls over 1400 majors. Within the college there are four academic units (School of Architecture & Community Design; School of Art & Art History; School of Music; School of Theatre & Dance); and the Contemporary Art Museum & Graphicstudio. The college is part of the second largest university in the southeast with more than 50,800 students representing more than 145 countries, and one of three Preeminent State Research Universities in the Florida State University System.

Position Summary:

The Communications and Marketing Officer will implement an exciting new contemporary branding initiative to highlight the College of The Arts' programs and offerings. They will create and build strategies to market, recruit and promote the College of The Arts. The Communications and Marketing Officer works closely with creative team to conduct relevant market research and testing to inform program viability, competition and marketing and recruitment strategies, using industry standard tools and analytics. Will drive internal and external communications include, but not limited to website management, brand initiatives, advertising, presentations, internal and external PR (faculty, students, leadership, peers), social media, digital media, and collateral materials. This position will report to the Dean of The College of The Arts, and will implement initiatives designed to advance CoTA’s reputation as a leader in arts education. This position will work with the other College units to develop a brand for the College and Schools under the university umbrella.

Responsibilities:

Will manage the marketing creative process from concept to completion, translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies, review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to ensure all creative assets adhere to visual identity and brand standards set by the University. Manages direct report (s).Coordinates all marketing and communication activities for CoTA including, but not limited to, website management, brand initiatives, presentations, internal and external PR, social media, digital media, and collateral materials. Is responsible for implementing strategic initiatives designed to advance CoTA’s reputation as a leader in arts education. Works with deans, faculty, staff, and students to identify, develop, and market stories that promote and publicize the university’s research projects, programs, events, student activities, community outreach efforts, and faculty, staff, and student achievements.


Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master’s degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred:

Experience in art directing including photography, videography and demonstrated success in social media and traditional media marketing planning and execution. Strong media writing skills.
