The mission of the College Communications Office is to raise the profile and brand awareness of the college by telling stories that attract the broadest audiences possible. We are seeking a College Communications Summer Assistant who is proactive in assisting the team to fulfill its mission with the creation, delivery, and maintenance of content across Davidson's channels. The Summer Assistant will join a highly collaborative team of colleagues who work together to develop story ideas, build campaigns, and plan communication programs that generate engagement, build deeper connections with the college and expand Davidson’s reputation, reach and impact.

Tasks may include:

• Provide support to the digital staff and the college website.
• Develop content (written, photography, video) for social media and print publications.
• Help promote Davidson’s brand through a broad range of marketing initiatives.

If you have a particular interest in a type of media or aspect of communications work, the staff will work with you to develop that skill/interest through hands-on training and mentoring.

• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, but also collaborate closely with the team.

• Ability to take ownership of assigned projects from start to finish.
• Ability to receive feedback and then adjust the work as needed.
• Ability to focus on tasks at hand during working hours.
• Ability to use mobile devices, particularly social media and photography apps – possessing your own smartphone or another mobile device is preferred.
• Discretion and confidentiality.
• Punctuality is expected, as well as timely communication if a change in work hours is needed. We are flexible, but need to know in advance whenever possible.
