Chilled Water Systems Tech I (4325) Job at ENGIE
In this role you will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing preventative maintenance and repair tasks on the Chilled water plant. This role is essential to providing a high quality university experience for our clients.
Iowa:
ENGIE at the University of Iowa employs over 100 energy professionals in the trades, technical specialties, engineering, management and support to operate the utility production and distribution systems, driving toward greater use of renewable and sustainable fuels.
What you’ll do:
- Assist with Operating, and maintaining turbines, centrifugal chillers, pumps, electric motors, tower fans, and related equipment
- Assists in the installation and repair of pressure piping for compressed air, water, steam, domestic water, condenser water, chilled water, and condensate
- Assist with the general maintenance of equipment such as chiller tube bundles, heat exchangers, tower fans, gearboxes, driveshafts, pumps, valves, air compressors, and all other plant related equipment. Utilize hoisting and rigging tools to move heavy equipment as necessary
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and pneumatic control systems
- Use proper techniques while using power and hand tools
- Carries out other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Any combination of education or experience that involves machinery, equipment and control systems related to a utility plant which totals a minimum of two years direct maintenance and repair experience
- After 6 months, demonstrate ability to determine when adjustments and repairs are necessary according to load requirements and or equipment problems
- Universal CFC certified after 1 yr. After 3 months, demonstrate ability to use computer control system for plant operation and building interface control system on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts
- Ability to perform mathematical computations
Additional Information/Conditions:
- For this position, you must have evidence of right to work in the U.S. There is no employer sponsorship of U.S. residency or work authorization with this role
- Ability to maintain a valid state issued valid drivers license
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to use personal computer, calculator, and work with standard software applications
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
- Ability to work safely in or with high noise levels, extreme heat, dust, high places, exhaust from purge pumps, chemicals and their fumes (sulfuric acid, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine, bromine), inhibitors (arsenic and chromate), fiberglass insulation, asbestos, welding hazards, cutting tools (power saws, grinders, drills, etc.), high pressure steam, hot condensate, high pressure distribution loop, and high speed rotating equipment
