The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.


Purpose of Position:

The Chief of Staff, Office of the Chief Digital and Information Officer (OCDIO) is responsible for managing a variety of operational, administrative and strategic activities and program demands, allowing the CDIO to focus on higher-level leadership and forward strategy at functional, divisional and corporate levels. This role is responsible for IT financial management, the IT project management office (PMO), Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), change management, and operating rhythms for IT, as well as partnering with the CDIO and CDIO staff on key strategic priorities.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the CDIO, IT strategic program and IT business leaders individually or, as a group, to identify and perform critical tasks for them to facilitate accomplishment of the organization’s objectives.
  • Act as a sounding board, influencer, and doer for the CDIO and IT strategic program teams.
  • Make things happen on his/her behalf; channel and interpret communications in multiple directions; understand and manage the organizational dynamics, interfaces and demands.
  • Prepare the CDIO for critical meetings, presentations, engagements, messages, etc., in coordination with the staff.
  • Assist in developing the content for these meetings, presentations and communications and drive the messages of the CDIO for his/her participation in these meetings.
  • Serve as liaison and ambassador for the CDIO to the larger corporate organization as appropriate.
  • Coordinates the preparation of materials, follow-up and feedback for key meetings and events Partnership with Finance leaders on IT function financial management processes
  • Provides leadership for project management office (PMO), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), change management, and core operating rhythms for the IT leadership team (CDIO staff)
  • Key process owner for IT talent pipeline programs and employee engagement strategies

  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and listening and presentation – experienced with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Financial acumen, understanding of financial processes at the enterprise and functional level
  • Ability to work with and interface with executive leadership, including the SLT, other C-Suite executives, and the Board of Directors
  • Demonstrate good judgment; must be viewed as a trusted advisor
  • Solid work ethic and integrity
  • Demonstrated leadership of global teams

  • Self-starter & flexible, works in partnership with the CDIO and as an individual contributor, but can influence and lead teams
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to build successful relationships within the MAPS and functional organizations

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical field

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 10-15 years progressive experience
