The Township of Sewickley, Westmoreland County, is accepting applications for an operator/road crew worker. A valid CDL A license is required. This is a full-time position with a starting salary of $20.36, excellent benefits, and will be eligible for participation in the Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System after successfully completing a probationary period. Summary: Responsible for maintaining township roads and operating township equipment by performing the following tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Drives Township heavy equipment and trucks equipped with plows and spreaders to remove snow from the roadways. *

2. Sets out signs, cones, and flags motorists around work zones. *

3. Drives trucks to transport crews and equipment to work sites.*

4. Cleans and clears debris from drain structures.*

5. Inspects, cleans and repairs township structures as needed.*

6. Performs roadside landscaping work as needed.*

7. Erects, installs or repairs guardrails, road shoulders, berms, road signs, etc.*

8. Operates small and heavy equipment to sweep debris, repair roads, clean ditches, install drainage, and mow grass. *

9. Be available to work overtime before and after normal, assigned shift and weekends especially during winter months. *

10. Work at community park and pool mowing, cleaning park facilities, cleaning pool, general maintenance, emptying garbage cans. *

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to do independent problem solving while completing assigned work tasks and follow safe work procedures.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

· Class A CDL license is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

· Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

· Ability to inspect equipment and structures for problems or defects.
