Position Summary:
The Category Manager is a key member of the Sales Team responsible for providing insights and recommendations to optimize new product introductions, distribution, shelving, price and promotional mix by analyzing market and customer data consistent with company strategies and brand marketing plans. Acts as the category expert in analyzing and assessing category/brand performance to develop enhanced sales plans, customer presentations and performance reviews. This is a growth opportunity that offers working with strong CPG leadership and an opportunity to work across multiple food categories and meaningfully impact business results.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide deep analytical support on category development projects and initiatives utilizing various syndicated data as well as corporate reports (shipments, P&Ls) and provide input towards effective category sales and profit growth strategies. Communicate company performance through regular updates.
  • Provide insights and recommendations optimizing the 4Ps (product, placement, price, promotion) by analyzing performance, competitive benchmarking, and market trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, trade, etc.) and apply knowledge of category, customer, and consumer insights to create powerful fact-based selling stories that drive share growth through portfolio expansion, innovation, promotional activity, etc. satisfying both Turkey Hill and the customer’s category strategies and objectives.
  • Synthesize insights into concise and impactful presentations/selling stories for Field Sales to present to retail customers on key initiatives and/or strategies, such as category reviews, new product introductions, distribution opportunities, and achieving shelving and pricing objectives. Effectively communicate selling stories/presentations to any customers when needed (in-person or virtually).
  • Build, update, and refresh sales reports, scorecards, dashboards, and other selling tools to be used by HQ and Field Sales teams.
  • Continually evaluate business while acting strategically to anticipate business challenges and opportunities. Proactively identify risks and opportunities and provide recommended improvements.
  • Responsible for independently providing space analytics, shelving and planogram recommendations for retail customers when needed.
  • Liaise with syndicated data agencies (IRI/Nielsen, Numerator, Mintel) and customer specific platforms (84.51, Dunnhumby, Shopper 360, Retail Link)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Finance, Management or related disciplin

  • 5 years of experience in category management analytics

  • Demonstrated experience using syndicated data platforms; preferably IRI
  • Experience in JDA Planogram software, Numerator and Mintel.
  • Expert Excel and Power Point skills; must be competent in managing and manipulation large complex data sets
  • Previous experience working with teams to build strategies, presentations as well as supporting the delivery of these components
  • Technical expertise with space management software a PLUS; preferably JDA space planning
  • Proficient in MS applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Analytical skills, able to synthesize information, develop understanding and insights and transform data into compelling stories
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • High level of organizational skills, detail-oriented, establish priorities, and ability to multi-task
  • Strong communication & presentation skills. Experience presenting to retail customers a PLUS.

This can be a remote position. Travel to Conestoga, PA once a month for a few days. Preferred hybrid with the ability to be in Conestoga three days per week.
