Cashier (Part-Time) -Abington Job at Jefferson - Montgomery County, PA
The primary function of the Cashier is to accurately operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, assess the cost of each customer’s meal, collects and provides accurate payment and change respectively while providing the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
- Operates a cash register (or equivalent), receives payments of cash, checks and charges from customers or employees for goods or services, making change and issuing receipts or tickets to all customers.
- Records amounts received and may be expected to total and summarize funds received, prepare bank deposits and verify cash at the beginning of a shift.
- Understands and follows the cash handling policies and procedures.
- Maintains proper security of cash at all times.
- Is expected to clean service areas before, during and/or after meal periods.
- Set-ups, stocks and maintains beverage and other service areas.
- May be crossed trained to serve as station attendant to set up, execute and break down stations in the cafe (Examples: Deli, Salads, Line Servers, etc.).
- May set up stations with breads, condiments and utensils, serves and replenishes food from counters and steam tables and breaks down stations at the end of meal periods.
- Reports defective or malfunctioning equipment immediately to department management
- Is able to follow verbal or written instructions.
- Is expected to interact with customers when delivering or providing services to the customer or client.
- Is expected to clean and sanitize workstations, counters and other equipment.
- May be expected to receive, inventory, lift, move, store, count and sort products being delivered to the area.
- Participates in and attends all department in-services to maintain department operating standards
- May be expected to participate in the taking of week end and month end inventory.
- Is able to push or pull objects with moderate effort frequently and maximum effort occasionally.
- Is able to properly lift objects weighing 20 pounds or less, 35 pounds or less occasionally and 50 pounds or less rarely.
- Is able to stand for 4 hours continuously, up to 8 hours per day and remain on feet for entire shift.
- Is able to manipulate small objects with close eye-hand and/or arm coordination for entire shift. Is able to perform motor skills such as grasping, finger manipulation, bending, reaching out, twisting, turning, reaching up and wrist turning continuously.

- Ability to read and communicate in the English language.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Previous food service experience is not required, but is preferred. Interpersonal communication skills are required.
