The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (NCMHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each year, we serve over 10,000 people with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more. Perform health and safety duties as assigned at each Center site.

*This position will remain open for seven (7) calendar days, or until filled.*

Salary: "Please note that the job posting rate for this position is $20.85 to $23.92, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly

General Description
Performs moderately complex rehabilitation planning and instructional work. Responsible for delivery of rehabilitative training for assigned caseload; coordination of consumer's needs in order to maintain stability in the community and achieve independence; crisis prevention and intervention. Provides skills training to address negative behaviors that are symptoms of emotional disturbance in order to help youth function independently in school, home and in the community. Collects, prepares, and reviews case data used to determine client eligibility for financial, medical, and/or social services. Services provided to children ages 3 to 17 with a diagnosis of mental illness who exhibit serious emotional, behavioral or mental disorders. Community-based services. Requires travel within city and flexible hours.

Minimum Qualifications


A minimum of a bachelor's or advance degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education or early childhood intervention. Must have reliable transportation. May use personal vehicle to conduct business. Must have a valid Texas driver's license at all times, liability insurance and a good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstration of the clinical competencies required by agency-approved, standardized training. Valid Texas driver's license. Computer literate. Ability to participate as a team member. Experience in the use of teaching and counseling techniques and rehabilitation services required in providing effective assistance to persons who are disabled. Considerable knowledge of assessment techniques and tools. Knowledge of client care techniques, and of treatment, therapy and of developmental programs. Ability to plan an individualized program of instruction with the client. Ability to work with others and to gain and retain the confidence of persons being instructed, guided, or directed. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to formulate, organize, and implement a plan of action. In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices.
