Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of rough and finished carpentry work by performing the following duties.
Job Description
All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.
Essential Job Functions
  • Repair tables, shelves, desks and other wooden equipment and fixtures.
  • Install acoustic drop ceilings.
  • Install locks and doors.
  • Perform general carpentry work in the construction, alteration and maintenance of buildings, doors, windows, screens, wood fixtures and furniture.
  • Construct a variety of apparatus from blueprints and sketches.
  • Utilize standard carpentry and power tools such as joiners, lathes, routers, sanders, power saws and drill presses.
  • Construct sheet rock and metal stud walls.
  • Construct and repair picture frames.
  • Transport tools, equipment and supplies to the job site.
  • Perform snow removal, sand bagging and cleaning of properties.
  • Schedule and review assigned work orders.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Maintain safe working conditions; identify and correct or report unsafe conditions in work areas.
Additional Job Description
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skill in the use of hand tools, power equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade is preferred.

Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the carpentry trade; of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; and of departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to perform carpentry work; and to maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform manual labor.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree).

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions and fundamentals of place and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
