Duties & Responsibilities
- This position serves as a working Coordinator of the food service program and is responsible for the food service operation, serving breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday, and for observance of all applicable sanitation standards in food preparation and the cafeteria area. The administrative role of this position requires food ordering, inventory management and deliver meals according to the provided standardized menu, and record keeping to satisfy the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements, Columbus Recreation and Parks Go Lunch! Summer Meal Program.
- Coordinate the food service program and monitor the work of subordinate staff.
- Ensure food service operations comply with federal and state reporting requirements, cycle menu's, health standards, and programmatic requirements.
- Maintain records of the daily number of meals received and served, as required by the City of Columbus and Columbus Recreation and Parks Go Lunch! Summer Meal Program.
- Submit meal counts to the Program Manager within 5 days offend of program.
- Ensure the required postings are visible in the meal area and on the exterior grounds of the property.
- Ensure that cleanliness of food storage, preparation and dining areas is maintained in accordance with requirements of Eckerd and local health department regulations.
- Ensure the security of food preparation utensils that would represent contraband in the hands of students.
- Complete daily/weekly observations of the food service area and communicate deficiencies to Program Manager for corrective action.
- Prepare or ensure preparation of special diets required for medical reasons.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. ServeSafe certification preferred.
- Three years’ experience in quantity food production, ordering and sanitation and safety procedures required. Six months supervision required. Experience in inventory management, budgeting and USDA record keeping preferred.
- Must demonstrate familiarity with nutritional and sanitary guidelines in food preparation and delivery. Must be able to effectively lead employees working throughout a 6-8-hour day, five days per week food service operation. Must be able to read and follow menus and recipes, assist in budget development and observance, and perform mathematical calculations to assure portion controls and inventory management. Computer skills are desirable.

Eckerd Connects provides youth services through contracts with Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services to offer comprehensive programming to support youth through academics, social and emotional learning and physical activities. Out of School Time (OST) programs for ages 5-13.
