Pentair Industrial Solutions business unit is experiencing significant growth. One of Pentair’s strategic growth pillars is the Biogas area. The projects will be engineered and produced at our Pentair sites or at an approved supplier. Mechanical / CAD Engineer
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
The Mechanical /CAD Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical engineering for customer driven projects. He or she will support the mechanical design for the plant based on the P&IDs prepared by the Project Engineering Group.
The CAD Engineer ensures good quality and timely completion of the engineering together with his/her project team.
The Lead CAD Engineer reports to the Engineering Team Leader in Conroe, TX.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Order management: Active takeover of orders from sales & technology; Assumption of responsibility for a safe design, quality of engineering, on time delivery and cost.
- Design solutions: Develop design solutions for plants based on the product portfolio; Implementation of the design in compliance with laws and standards / with the required implementation regulations at the place of use / installation of the plant; creation of solution drafts ready for detailing - considering functional, material, manufacturing, HSE and economic aspects as well as evaluating and comparing them with existing designs.
- Communication & exchange of information: Exchange of information with the other teams and specialist departments and suppliers (e.g., alignment of design with process engineering & automation, supply chain and assembly, field assembly and commissioning; as well as suppliers); internal representation of the project; internal reporting; Documentation of agreements reached
- Perform activities or direct work by other internal or external resources including preparing 3D plant designs from equipment documentation and Piping and Instrumentation drawings (P&IDs), Utilizing software to generate piping isometrics with bill of materials (BOMs), Preparing layout and foundation drawings, utilizing software to generate production drawings, preparing base frame fabrication and equipment lifting drawings, Preparing conduit isometrics.
- Documentation & risk assessments: Preparation of transportation, installation, and maintenance instructions; Supporting hazard analyses for individual machines as well as for the interlinked complete plant
- Contributing technical knowledge to other departments and projects in the role of a subject matter expert
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES
- 5 years of experience minimum in CAD disciplines with preferred experience in oil and gas process mechanical, piping design, and plant design.
- Knowledge of and experience with tools such as 3D CAD Software (e.g., Inventor, Creo), experience in piping and process plant design (AutoPlant and or Plant 3D), PDM Software (e.g., Windchill, Vault) PLM Software, ERP Software, MS Office, Special Calculation Tools. Ability to adapt to new digital design platforms
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Creo / Inventor (3D)
- Experiences on working in a project team incl. experience in a leading role.
- Knowledge of relevant guidelines and norms associated with piping, pressure vessels incl frames, and other mechanical and process-oriented codes, regulations, requirements, (B31.3, B31.5 etc.)
- Team-player who enjoys working closely with others and thrives in a team environment including global teams.
- Creative in finding solutions, with a strong commitment to quality.
- Good communication skills with a customer-oriented and commercial mind-set.
- Analytical and able to maintain an overview of complex processes.
- Strong design insight and experience are essential competencies to ensure and provide practical solutions. This will include experience working on a variety of unique design projects.
- Travel up to 25%.
