Prepares and maintains prints and XYZ coordinate tables, production drawings and other related documentation per ANSI standards completely and accurately considering methods of manufacture, tolerance, and their effect on related parts. Design and produce fixture and gage tools supporting production process. Provides information, prints and support to production as necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates 2D and 3D models and drawings from notes, sketches, layouts and drawings prepared by others.
  • Prepares and maintains engineering project design layouts, production drawings and other related documentation per ANSI standards completely and accurately considering methods of manufacture, tolerance, and their effect on related parts.
  • Prepares and maintains mechanical drawings and other related documentation from layouts, sketches, or verbal instruction using SolidWorks on a consistent and competent basis.
  • Possesses understanding of ANSI drafting methods, standards and procedures
  • Possesses understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Migrate mechanical drawings from other CAD packages into SolidWorks
  • Checks dimensions of parts, material types, component fit-ups, and assembly completeness.
  • Makes any necessary changes to existing drawings
  • Reviews engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established drafting specifications and standards.
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
  • Understands and practices the company quality procedures.

Performance Skills:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics particularly as related to tolerancing, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry are desirable
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and historical plans and documents.
  • Self starter
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective Communication Skills Verbal/Written
  • Detail Oriented
  • MS Offce
  • Spanish speaking ability is a plus

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of five years CAD drafting experience.
  • AA degree in Computer Aided Drafting Technology preferred
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least two years of experience with SolidWorks
  • Autodesk Inventor experience is desired, but not required
